After losing four straight games, the Detroit Pistons found redemption on the road by absolutely dominating the Brooklyn Nets. It was a much needed victory as the season winds to the close, and the team is aiming for their first title since 2004.<\/p>\n

Detroit Pistons Find Redemption on the Road Just in Time<\/h2>\n

This was not a losing skid the Pistons wanted to ride much longer. With the regular season winding down and the playoffs looming, dropping four games in six days<\/a> is not a great way to build team confidence. That’s doubly true when the number one team in the East is losing to the Nets.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for the Pistons, they eventually beat Brooklyn by 38 points. It’s the kind of margin that lets Detroit fans know their team is rolling again.<\/p>\n

The playoffs are as much about confidence as playing great basketball. Losing a lot leading into the postseason tends to eat away at a team’s morale, leaving them in a tough spot. The Pistons cannot afford to head into potential matchups with the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers with any doubt in their minds.<\/p>\n

How the Pistons Stopped the Skid<\/h3>\n

Demolishing the Nets by a score of 138-100 was a full team effort, with six players scoring in double digits. Even more impressive is the fact that every single available player who was with the Pistons in Cleveland got on the court and all of them scored. That’s the kind of team effort that wins titles.<\/p>\n

Cade Cunningham<\/a> led the charge with a massive double-double of 21 points and 15 assists. He shot 80% from both the field and the three-point line, but those assists were key. Being the top dog on the roster<\/a> means getting everyone in the mix, not just calling your own number every time.<\/p>\n

Jalen Duren<\/a> was an absolute beast, collecting 26 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. It’s also worth noting that Daniss Jenkins<\/a> had a great game, particularly from a defensive point of view. He walked away with 14 points, three rebounds, six assists, and five huge steals.<\/p>\n

For the number one team in the Eastern Conference, losing four straight games this close to the playoffs is a bitter pill to swallow. Even worse was losing one of those games to the Nets<\/a>, the 13th place team in the same conference, on March 7th. That’s not a confidence builder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Pistons should be beating the Nets by at least 20 to 30 points every time they meet. On February 1st, Detroit routed Brooklyn by 53 points. Even losing to the Nets by two points is too much.<\/p>\n

That’s what made this redemption on the road victory over Brooklyn so important. It re-establishes the Pistons as a dominant contender for the NBA championship. This is how Detroit builds and maintains its confidence going into what will inevitably be a tough postseason campaign.<\/p>\n
