After the NBA-ABA merger, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/e\/ervinju01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Julius Erving<\/a> signed a deal with Converse in 1975.<\/p>\n<p>If you look at female hoopers who have earned themselves endorsement deals, this includes former WNBA MVP <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/s\/swoopsh01w.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sheryl Swoopes<\/a>. The six-time <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2026\/01\/24\/what-is-in-store-for-the-2026-nba-all-star-game\/\" target=\"_self\">All-Star<\/a> inked a deal with Nike in 1995, which resulted in the creation of the Nike Air Swoopes. This made Swoopes the first woman to ever receive a signature basketball shoe.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, the women&#8217;s game has grown greatly, which has led to notable WNBA players such as <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/s\/stewabr01w.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Breanna Stewart<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/i\/ionessa01w.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sabrina Ionescu<\/a>, and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/wnba\/players\/w\/wilsoa01w.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A&#8217;ja Wilson<\/a> all having signature shoes.<\/p>\n<h2>GEICO Partners With UConn Women&#8217;s Basketball Standout<\/h2>\n<h3>GEICO Signs Azzi Fudd<\/h3>\n<p>The American vehicle insurance company, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.geico.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GEICO<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.darientimes.com\/sports\/uconn-womens-basketball\/article\/azzi-fudd-geico-partnership-deal-docuseries-nil-21950636.php\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recently signed<\/a> <span>2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2026\/03\/02\/2026-horizon-league-tournament-can-wright-state-make-return-to-ncaa-tournament-as-conference-changes-format\/\" target=\"_self\">NCAA<\/a> Final Four Most Outstanding Player and UConn standout, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/azzi-fudd-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Azzi Fudd<\/a>. The multi-year partnership will support Fudd&#8217;s journey to the 2026 NCAA March Madness tournament and her professional career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Being GEICO&#8217;s first endorsement deal with a female athlete, the partnership will kick off with Fudd appearing in GEICO&#8217;s upcoming <span class=\"m_-8136132294791375372normaltextrun\"><span>docuseries, &#8220;Miles That Matter,&#8221; premiering March 16th on Paramount+<\/span><\/span><span class=\"m_-8136132294791375372normaltextrun\"><span>. With both of them being former basketball coaches, Fudd and her parents aim to strengthen the youth basketball systems in her community.<\/p>\n<p>Among others, Fudd&#8217;s community-building initiatives include literacy programs for young athletes and pathways for coaches to advance their careers.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release, Fudd mentioned how the surrounding community helped her in each step of her basketball journey.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMy journey has never been a solo act. Every mile, every setback, every comeback \u2014 my family, friends, and basketball community were there supporting me every step of the way. Their support has been critical to how I got here and will be equally influential in where I\u2019m going.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Fudd&#8217;s career has not been without its <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.trumbulltimes.com\/sports\/uconn-womens-basketball\/article\/azzi-fudd-geico-nil-partnership-deal-campaign-21948869.php\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">setbacks<\/a>. Coming into UConn as the No. 1-ranked high school recruit, she overcame a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2026\/02\/18\/can-magic-kings-reach-playoffs-amid-post-all-star-break-injuries\/\" target=\"_self\">torn meniscus<\/a> and ACL in her junior year.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the fifth-year guard is averaging a career high in points (18.1), assists (3.0), steals (2.5), and field goal percentage (48.9).<\/p>\n<p>In that same press release, Fudd had this to say about her partnership with GEICO:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I\u2019m excited to partner with GEICO to tell my story, highlighting the people behind the scenes and finding ways to inspire the next generation.
