While <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/aytonde01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deandre Ayton<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been a polarizing starter and <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hayesja02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jaxson Hayes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has admirably re-adjusted to a backup role, the team\u2019s needs for athleticism and rim protection remain vital as they hand the reins over from <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeBron James<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/doncilu01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luka Doncic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reflecting on the year that\u2019s passed since Doncic\u2019s Lakers debut, ESPN\u2019s Kevin Pelton offered several plausible targets LA could pursue in free agency, including two familiar names the organization previously targeted.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Defensive-Minded Bigs Viewed as &#8216;Realistic Possibilities&#8217; for Lakers<\/h2>\n<h3>Kevin Pelton on Lakers and Free Agent Fives<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While evaluating how the Lakers could build a championship-contending team around Doncic\u2014in similar fashion to the 2023 Dallas Mavericks\u2014Kevin Pelton highlighted how Doncic thrived alongside two athletic bigs in <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gaffoda01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel Gafford<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/livelde01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dereck Lively II<\/a>. After undergoing <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/40140749\/knicks-mitchell-robinson-ankle-surgery-sources-say\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">two ankle surgeries<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2024, and missing a majority of last season as a result, the 27-year-old has been a relatively reliable defender and rebounder this year (even though he is out for tonight\u2019s game against the Pacers).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In one of his more impressive games against the Denver Nuggets on Feb. 4, Robinson finished with ten points, eight rebounds, a steal and a block. In 37 games (one start), he has put up 6.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.4 blocks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Williams has also <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MrBuckBuckNBA\/status\/2021232481521811514\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stretched his offensive game<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> toward the perimeter, nailing seven of his 16 three-point attempts this season, good for 43.8%. His most recent outing\u2014eight points, six rebounds, two assists and a block against the Philadelphia 76ers\u2014also featured <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MrBuckBuckNBA\/status\/2021232481521811514\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">consecutive left corner threes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. That mark made him 4\/4 from deep in his last three games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar to Robinson, <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nba\/robert-williams-player-injuries\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Williams<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been a reliable two-way player for the Blazers\u2019 bench when he\u2019s at full strength, giving the group a unique look when the 7\u20192\u201d <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/clingdo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Donovan Clingan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sits.
