I take full responsibility for my actions and apologize to the Sixers organization, my teammates and the Philly fans for my poor decision making during this process. I am focused on using this time to make sure that my mind and body are in the best condition to help the team when I return.”

A Bounce-Back Season Cut Short

George has enjoyed a bounce-back season after a tumultous first year in Philadelphia. He averaged 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists. George also averaged over two stocks per game. He shot 36 percent from three, one of the least efficient marks of his career. He has shot better this season at 38 percent on similar volume. His two-way presence showed in his plus-minus of +3.6. That mark improved from last season’s -2.0.

Long-Term Impact on Availability

This suspension puts him on track to make fewer than 40 appearances this season. Philadelphia has 35 games remaining. George could return with 10 games left in the regular season. He has played in 27 of the team’s first 47 games. He has played fewer than 65 games in six of the last seven seasons. That trend began after his move to Los Angeles. He is earning $51 million this season. It is the second year of a four-year, $211 million deal he signed in July 2024. It remains to be seen if this forces the 76ers to be more agressive buyers at the trade deadline.

Credit:© Bill Streicher-Imagn Images

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George has been suspended by the NBA for 25 games.
