As the pursuit of Pelicans forward <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/joneshe01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Herb Jones<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> grows slimmer by the day, one insider has revealed a trio of \u201csecondary\u201d options the Lakers could consider.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Insider: Three Wings Viewed as &#8216;Realistic Options&#8217; for Lakers<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Siegel: Trio of East Wings are \u2018Secondary Targets\u2019 for LA<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a wave of information provided by <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/nba\/nba-stories\/trae-young-jonathan-kuminga-futures-latest-nba-trade-deadline-intel\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ClutchPoints\u2019 Brett Siegel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, he acknowledged that the Lakers\u2019 pursuit of wing help has grown \u201cdifficult.\u201d As New Orleans\u2019 asking price for Jones and <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/murphtr02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trey Murphy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reaches astronomical levels, he thinks the Lakers could look at three reserves instead.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt has been difficult for the Lakers, like the Warriors, to find adequate talent worth trading for on the wing without sacrificing their entire future. That is why secondary talents like Isaac Okoro, Keon Ellis, and Haywood Highsmith continue to be realistic options. Maybe there could even be a reunion between Kyle Kuzma and the Lakers should he be the best wing available on the market.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><b>Isaac Okoro<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chicago Bulls guard\/forward <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/o\/okorois01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isaac Okoro<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been largely inconsistent since he was traded from the Cavaliers in the offseason. In 28 games, he averaged 8.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 47% from the field and 33% from three. Okoro is a decent and <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/article\/isaac-okoro-contagious-defensive-effort-201426501.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">physical defender<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with 3-and-D potential. However, he is a low-volume three-point shooter (career 35% on 2.7 attempts per game) and is coming off a horrendous 1-for-7 outing from the perimeter against the Celtics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/stats\/teams\/traditional?dir=A&amp;sort=FG3_PCT\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lakers\u2019 three-point shooting struggles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been well-documented, and adding Okoro is unlikely to solve their problems. If the front office is looking for a <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.silverscreenandroll.com\/lakers-rumors\/104197\/lakers-trade-rumors-herb-jones-trey-murphy-wing-3-and-d-pelicans\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">legitimate needle-mover<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and two-way threat, they are better off passing on Okoro and his $11 million salary.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Haywood Highsmith<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nets wing <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/highsha01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Haywood Highsmith<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has yet to play this season as he continues to recover from a <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/heat\/news\/haywood-highsmith-undergoes-surgery\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">torn meniscus<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In 74 games with the Heat last year (42 starts), he put up 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists on .458\/.382\/.721 splits. The analytics favor <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Tim_NBA\/status\/1999925493387436317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Highsmith\u2019s isolation defense<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014which the Lakers sorely need on the wing\u2014and he boasts standout athleticism with a <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=88hnv9bvaDY\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">decent shot selection from three<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Highsmith could give the Lakers the athletic defender their bench has craved. However, understandably, his health is a key concern, especially for a team that has faced a myriad of absences in the rotation. Should the Lakers show interest in Highsmith, he is on a team-friendly expiring contract, earning $5.6 million this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Keon Ellis<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The connection between the Lakers and <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/e\/elliske01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keon Ellis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has tightened in recent weeks, with the fourth-year guard getting the short end of the stick amid Sacramento\u2019s backcourt logjam. Through 35 games (four starts), Ellis has averaged 5.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game on .385\/.355\/.607 splits. He\u2019s a <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nba\/los-angeles-lakers\/lakers-trade-keon-ellis-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">career 41% three-point shooter with versatile defense<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, aided in part due to his 6\u20199\u201d wingspan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lakers reportedly <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/esidery\/status\/2008613526949306795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">checked in<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Ellis\u2019s status recently, appearing willing to move on from <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/k\/knechda01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dalton Knecht<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the process. However, Sacramento is seeking a first-round pick in return, and the Lakers may not be open to trading their 2031 first for an \u201cabove average\u201d 3-and-D guard. Ellis and his expiring $2.3 million contract are a hot commodity across the league.
