He is leading the Celtics to a top seed, despite not having their number one scoring option in Jayson Tatum. Multiple 30+ point performances, a triple-double, and a career year in free throw percentage have earned Brown Eastern Conference Player Of The Week.

Celtics Star Receives Eastern Conference Player Of The Week

Brown’s Amazing Play

Brown, has opened the first 6 weeks of the season with great numbers. He’s leading the Celtics to a top seed and is averaging a career high in points per game and free-throw percentage. At 29.1 points per game and nearly 80 percent from the stripe, Brown is sixth in the league in scoring. His improved free-throw shooting is apparent. And, the voters agree!

Over Brown’s last five games, he led the Celtics to a 4-1 record and dropped 41 points in a four-point loss to Minnesota. Brown did not play in the first game of a back-to-back on December 4th, and the Celtics are 5-0 over their last five as a team. This win streak includes a 42-point performance by Payton Pritchard, where Brown was incredibly impactful and earned a triple-double with a two-point win over Cleveland.

Across the four contests, including Brown, he led the team in multiple stats. Thrice he led Boston in scoring, with at least thirty points per contest, and twice led in rebounds and assists. Leading in all three of these categories in a win over their historical rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. Either despite or in benefit of this career year for Brown, the Achilles injury to Tatum could result in a positive outcome. Brown proves to be one of the top defensive and offensive players in the NBA. He’s clearly earned the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award.

Dec 7, 2025; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (7) tries to dribble around Toronto Raptors guard Scottie Barnes (4) during the first half at Scotiabank Arena. Coming into the league, he was a defensive specialist with some ability to drive and score through his athleticism. However, as his career has developed, he has evolved his game and helped deliver an NBA Championship in 2024. This earned him the Bill Russell Finals MVP Award over his co-star.

While Boston has been nearly two seasons removed from their championship, Brown has only improved since then! During the championship season, Brown averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and more than a steal per game. All while shooting practically fifty percent from the field and 35.6 percent from deep range. And, this season is even better than that! Brown has always been a rigorous and determined defensive adversary since joining the league in 2016. His career high in assists at 4.5 and offensive rebounds at 1.3 illustrate his grit, versatility, and athleticism in his ninth season. So, it’s not only his scoring that has developed and evolved.

Despite starting the season with three consecutive losses, the former Finals MVP is making his case as a top-10 player in this league. Some could dispute this, as he did not attract the defensive attention in the Celtics’ previous two finals appearances. However, scoring nearly 30 points per contest has defenses stumbling to find a focus in a 3-point dominant Joe Mazzulla offense. The play style Mazzulla has implemented is definitely contributing to Brown’s individual success. It may have helped him earn the player of the week award.

Featured Image: Winslow Townson-Imagn Images

Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics has had a fantastic start to the 2025-26 NBA season.
