However, should fans worry about their poor away performances? With just five games at home so far, the Warriors have made the most of their limited opportunities at Chase Center. That dominance, however, comes in sharp contrast to their struggles away from the Bay, where inconsistencies and turnovers continue to hinder them. How long can they keep this momentum going?

5–0 at Home, Weak on the Road: Warriors’ Early-Season Analysis

What’s Behind the 5–0 Home Start

The Warriors’ impressive home record may come as a surprise to some, especially considering how inconsistent they’ve looked on the road this season. But at Chase Center, they’re unstoppable, as they continue to control games with confidence and clarity.

With one of the best home records in the NBA, the Dubs consistently show out in front of their fans. Their ball movement sharpens, their spacing improves, and their defense even hits another level. In fact, they’re one of only two teams in the NBA to be undefeated at home so far this season. The other team is the first-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, who are 7–0. Dub Nation clearly gives them the extra lift they need to close out tight games.

Their first home game of the season set the tone. In an overtime win against the Nuggets, Stephen Curry and company showcased their resilience and fire that runs deep in the franchise’s history. So far, the Warriors have beaten the Nuggets, Grizzlies, Clippers, Suns, and Pacers. With each win, they reinforce the idea that they play their best basketball when in San Francisco. They boast an average of 120 points per game at home while shooting nearly 50% from the field.

But why do their performances on the road feel like such a stark juxtaposition?

Through 12 games the Warriors are outscoring opponents by 80 at home and being outscored by 79 on the road.

That difference is the largest by a team through 12 games this century. https://t.co/s1HTjOrlK1 pic.twitter.com/HkDTGpvWsq

— Automatic (@automaticnba) November 12, 2025

Defense and Road Struggles

Nov 19, 2025; Miami, Florida, USA; Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr argues with referee David Guthrie (16) during the first half against the Miami Heat at Kaseya Center. They are currently 9–8 overall, despite dropping games to teams missing key players. While their depth and defensive structure have gotten off to a great start at Chase Center, those strengths unfortunately haven’t traveled with them. The bench rotation slows down, the defense loses its intensity, and the Warriors’ famous ball movement becomes a distant memory.

However, the biggest issue is turnovers, which constantly burn their momentum in tight late-game moments. Away from home, the Warriors average 18 per game, compared to just 12 at home. The major turnover jump between their road and home games explains their overall inconsistency.

The Warriors are 26th in turnover percentage this season, highlighting just how much these mistakes hurt them. Jimmy Butler says, “I can’t expect for my guys not to turn the ball over when I’m out there turning the ball over.”

More: pic.twitter.com/SiYt0iilJD

— Sam Gordon (@BySamGordon) November 19, 2025

The Dubs seem to be so composed at home, but away from the Bay, they often suffer lapses in communication. It’s understandable that they adjust their rotation to manage minutes and rest key players, but the drop-off in execution shouldn’t be this drastic.

What it Could Mean Moving Forward

I don’t know how long this undefeated home streak will last, but it certainly raises questions about the rest of the Warriors’ season.

With 12 away games already behind them, fatigue could be the one factor behind their inconsistencies. With a group still trying to build their foundation and rhythm, a number of back-to-back away games this early can obviously take a toll, especially for the team’s veteran players.

A 5-0 home start is impressive. However, if the Dubs want to stay competitive, they must focus on winning away from Chase Center. Strengthening late-game execution, improving shooting efficiency from beyond the arc, addressing their continuous turnover issue, and achieving more consistent production on the bench are crucial now more than ever to shape the rest of the season.

The Warriors have had success this season, and their home streak proves that. However, whether they can maintain the same standard beyond San Francisco raises huge concerns right now.

Featured Image: Rhona Wise-Imagn Images

The Warriors’ perfect 5–0 home start shows early signs of a clearer team identity.
