Durant claimed on Netflix’s “Starting 5” that offense wins championships, while Green fired back, insisting it was defense that secured the Warriors’ titles when they shared the court. Durant questioned his assertion and simply said:

And the offense was???? https://t.co/SV6zo7dSUp

— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) November 4, 2025

The Warriors forward was quick to insist there’s no bad blood with the 15-time NBA All-Star on his podcast, saying:

“This ain’t no beef. Ain’t no beef between KD and Draymond, but we gonna talk our s–t because that’s what we both do and we both love to do it. And we would do this sitting together with each other and y’all don’t see it. We’ll do it and y’all do see it. Make no mistake about it, ain’t no goddamn beef.”

Green’s fiery nature, combined with Durant’s competitive persona, means sparks are inevitable, yet even amid disagreement, mutual respect still remains between the two stars.

The Rivalry Today

It seems that nowadays, Green and Durant’s rivalry is less like a classic NBA feud and more like an ego and legacy clash.

It’s no secret that Durant left the Warriors for Brooklyn in 2019, due to ongoing tensions with Green. And despite both insisting there’s no beef, their rivalry has lingered ever since.

Sure, they can disagree over the importance of offense and defense, but leaving out a former teammate after an online altercation is hardly a coincidence. Whether on the court, on social media, or in a favorites list, the tension between Green and Durant shows that some NBA rivalries never fully fade; they just evolve, waiting for the next chapter.

© Isaiah J.
