Despite being known for their super teams, several players who helped them achieve this milestone haven’t received the credit they deserve. Here’s a look at the top five most underrated Warriors in the last decade.

Top 5 Most Underrated Golden State Warriors of the Last Decade

5. Jordan Poole

Whenever you hear the name ‘Jordan Poole’, you often think of the incident between him and Draymond Green. However, his impact on the Warriors is impossible to ignore, particularly during his 2022 championship run. Before his exit, Poole played a crucial role in the Warriors’ offensive spark. He was called the “Warriors’ third splash brother” for a reason and was destined to be the future star at Golden State.

The NBA world often forget that Poole was just 22 years old when he won the title that year, stepping up as a valuable solution while Klay Thompson worked his way back from injury. Poole averaged nearly 19 points per game that season and delivered multiple 30-point performances during the playoffs, proving vital in the Warriors’ road to the final against Boston.

4. Andrew Bogut

Known for his defensive instincts and high basketball IQ, Andrew Bogut remains one of the most underrated centers of his era, not to mention in Warriors history. The highly skilled center possessed exceptional court vision and was arguably the greatest big man passer of his generation.

It was Bogut’s passing ability that played a key role in helping the Dubs capture their fourth franchise title in 2015. Then later, his defensive prowess helped lead the Warriors to their historic 73-win season. Dub Nation would agree he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves because he was overshadowed by the offensive brilliance of Stephen Curry and Thompson, but his defensive playmaking actually held the team together.

3. Shaun Livingston

Shaun Livingston could easily be number one on this list. The versatile guard won an impressive three NBA championships with the Warriors. He also possessed arguably one of the most reliable mid-range jumpers of his era. He was a steady presence teammates depended on, the glue the franchise needed when they had to dig in deep in the playoffs and finals.

But there are many reasons why Livingston may be overlooked. His serious knee injury likely stopped him from becoming a future All-Star, and the Warriors’ stacked starting five certainly didn’t help his case. But as a backup point guard, it’s hard to think of anyone better than Livingston.

2. Kevon Looney

Kevon Looney might have been the ultimate dark horse of the Warriors’ dynasty. He was the player who consistently delivered on the floor, quietly doing the dirty work without needing the spotlight. His defensive reliability and offensive rebounding earned him three NBA championships. However, it wasn’t just his effort and physicality that made him excel; it was also his durability.

Looney played all 82 games for two straight seasons, a rare feat in today’s NBA. Known for setting tough screens and showing defensive brilliance in clutch moments, he was never the flashiest player but became one of the Warriors’ most dependable. Head coach Steve Kerr even described him as the Dubs’ “foundational piece”. It was his willingness to go the extra mile that separated him from the rest, yet the impact he made rarely recieved the recognition it deserves.

1. Andre Iguodala

When people hear the name Andre Iguodala, they think of the infamous “Blocked by James!” moment in Game 7 of the 2016 finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but that one play shouldn’t overshadow just how important he was to the Warriors’ dynasty. Iguodola won all four of the Warriors’ championships over the last decade and was even named Finals MVP in 2015, despite not even starting every game of the series. That year, he went up against a powerful Cavaliers team and averaged 16 points per game, while taking on the demanding task of guarding LeBron James. He managed to hold arguably the greatest player of all time to just 38% shooting from the field. I truly don’t believe the two-way contributor gets enough respect for the influence he had on the Warriors’ success.

© Gary A.
