UConn has landed its second four-star, top-30 national prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. The Big East Conference member<\/a> picked up a verbal pledge from four-star wing Colben Landrew. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard\/small forward chose the Huskies over other finalists\u00a0Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Purdue and Texas A&M.<\/p>\n

UConn Scores Second 4-Star, Top-30 Prospect in 2026 Class<\/h2>\n

Landrew is a senior at the powerhouse Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga. Wheeler went 29-3 overall last season<\/a>, won a state title and was ranked in the top 10 nationally by MaxPreps. High school basketball experts forecast the Wildcats to once again be one of the top teams in the country in the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. Landrew will be a key contributor for Wheeler as a senior.<\/p>\n

In recent months, Landrew has proven a stock-rising prospect in the 2026 class. He played well on the AAU circuit this spring and summer, earning high praise from analysts and scouts. This past July, Landrew helped lead the Marietta, Ga.-based Game Elite to the 17U championship in the Adidas 3SSB league. The experts at The Circuit named Landrew to their All-3SSB first team<\/a>. He was excellent this spring and summer, averaging 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game.<\/p>\n

UConn Commit Colben Landrew has Soared in 2026 Rankings<\/h3>\n

During the latest 2026 update from Rivals, Landrew jumped into the top 20 overall, at No. 17<\/a>. He’s also the No. 4 shooting guard and the No. 1 prospect hailing from Georgia.<\/p>\n

Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite<\/a> and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking have Landrew inside the top 30 nationally and the No. 2 prospect from Georgia. The 247Sports Composite places him as the No. 11 small forward, while the Rivals Industry Ranking<\/a> is more bullish, slotting Landrew as the No. 6 shooting guard.<\/p>\n

What is UConn getting in Landrew? Experts say he has a strong frame and good length for his size. He’s a versatile defender and can guard multiple positions.<\/p>\n

Jamie Shaw, a national analyst and scout with On3\/Rivals<\/a>, says that Landrew isn’t as quick as some other prospects, but his instincts are stellar. What’s more, on offense, Landrew is highly efficient and can effectively score at all three levels, Shaw says.<\/p>\n

UConn is Building a Terrific 2026 Class<\/h3>\n

Earlier this month, Huskies head coach Dan Hurley<\/a> and his staff got on the board with their 2026 cycle. At the beginning of October, four-star point guard\/shooting guard Junior County verbally committed to UConn after taking an official visit to Storrs in late September<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-4 County is a senior at the Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. His highest national rankings come via 247Sports<\/a>, where County is No. 29 overall, No. 2 at shooting guard and No. 1 in Utah within the 2026 class. Currently, UConn’s 2026 cycle checks in at No. 12 across the country, per the 247Sports Composite<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How many more 2026 high school prospects might Hurley and his assistants notch? It’s tough to tell. UConn has doled out scholarship offers<\/a> to other high school seniors, although it’s not clear how many the Huskies’ staff is heavily involved with at this juncture. Additionally, like their peers, the Huskies could be more focused on transfer portal recruiting than recruiting at the prep level for the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

One 2026 target for UConn fans to monitor is five-star combo guard and top-five national prospect Dylan Mingo<\/a>. The standout at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., took an official visit to the Huskies in early September.<\/p>\n
