Ahead of a <\/span>season filled with streaming options<\/span><\/a>, the tech giant will reportedly roll out an immersive viewing experience with one of the NBA\u2019s premier franchises.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lakers Fans Could Have New Way to Watch Thanks to Apple<\/b><\/h2>\n

Select Lakers Games Coming to Apple Vision Pro<\/b><\/h3>\n

According to <\/span>The Verge<\/span><\/a>, Apple will offer a \u201cselection\u201d of Lakers games through its spatial computer, Apple Vision Pro. The AR\/VR headset already offers the ability to <\/span>watch live games<\/span><\/a>. However, Apple\u2019s new venture will mark its first live immersive sports broadcasts on the platform. The company will use <\/span>special versions<\/span><\/a> of <\/span>Blackmagic Design\u2019s URSA Cine Immersive Live cameras, which will be placed courtside and under each basket.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cVision Pro users will be able to feel the intensity of each game as if they were courtside, with perspectives that are impossible to capture in traditional broadcasts,\u201d Apple wrote in a Thursday statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spectrum Sportsnet, the Lakers\u2019 main broadcast partner, will assist Apple in distributing these games. They \u201cwill be accessible to authenticated Spectrum SportsNet subscribers, as well as Spectrum Internet customers, via the Spectrum SportsNet app in the Lakers\u2019 territory,\u201d according to Spectrum\u2019s <\/span>press release<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe game replay and highlights in Apple Immersive will also be available on demand via the Spectrum SportsNet app across the Spectrum footprint and on the NBA App for national and international fans,\u201d the company added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exact Lakers games to be featured on Apple Vision Pro will be <\/span>revealed \u201clater this fall\u201d<\/span><\/a> and require visionOS 26 or later. As for the starting price for the revolutionary spatial computer? <\/span>$3,500<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s announcement is a bold continuation of the league\u2019s efforts to tap into virtual reality. The NBA and Meta originally joined forces in 2020, with a <\/span>recent extension<\/span><\/a> offering a <\/span>way to watch games<\/span><\/a> in the \u201cNBA Arena\u201d through Meta Horizon Worlds. However, that partnership ended after this past season, leaving Apple Vision Pro with a prime opportunity to pick up where Meta Quest left off.<\/span><\/p>\n
