They have three prospects who certainly possess great talent on the offensive end. While none of the rookies played limited minutes during Summer League, both in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, they did show flashes of their overall potential. He certainly has a beautiful and smooth jump shot, which he uses to be a proficient pull-up shooter from anywhere on the court. At the less glamorous end, Bailey’s size and length give him the tools to be an extremely impactful defender. With the right development, he can be a strong, multi-positional defender who can offer weakside shot-blocking.

Unquestionably, Bailey possesses a ton of talent that can impact Utah’s future in a positive way. However, he has significant things to work on during his rookie year. In particular, the expectation for Bailey is that he looks for easier scoring opportunities out on the court. One of the biggest weaknesses in Bailey’s offensive game is his proclivity for taking tough shots and having overall poor shot-selection. In the first half of 2024-25, he struggled to get to the rim, which made him force bad shots.

To be fair, the personnel Bailey played with at Rutgers didn’t give him much to work with. He didn’t have the proper spacing to get good driving lanes, and only Dylan Harper had the passing skills to consistently put Bailey in positions to succeed. With the Jazz, Bailey has teammates that are better equipped to take the defensive attention off of him. With shooters like Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, and Brice Sensabaugh, he should also have better spacing for driving lanes. Considering the circumstances, Bailey must show he can find easier shots at the rim rather than settling for poor shots.

If he can do that, it will perfectly round out his scoring.

Apr 7, 2025; San Antonio, TX, USA; Florida Gators guard Walter Clayton Jr. (1) celebrates after winning the national championship game of the Final Four of the 2025 NCAA Tournament at the Alamodome. The 6-foot-2 guard is one of the best upperclassmen in the 2025 draft class. He is one of the draft’s premier shooters in the class, being able to knock down shots anywhere on the court. His fearless shot-making and experience were on full display during Summer League, where he had multiple impressive outings.

For a young Jazz team, having an older rookie in Clayton is excellent. The importance of his addition is accentuated by his experience winning an NCAA Championship and coming from a program that prides itself on success.

However, one concern for Clayton is his defense. To be specific, his size can be a detriment to him on that end. While he does have quick hands and is good at reading passing lanes, he’ll have difficulties guarding on the ball as bigger, stronger players will push him out of the way. Not only that, but he isn’t always the most attentive defending off the ball either.

If the 22-year-old can find ways to translate his positive defensive traits and mitigate his negative ones, he will have a long NBA career.

Jul 14, 2025; Las Vegas, NV, USA; Utah Jazz forward John Tonje (17) celebrates with guard Isaiah Collier (8) after scoring against the San Antonio Spurs during the second half of a NBA basketball game at the Thomas & Mack Center. Furthermore, he’s a solid 3-point shooter and overall floor spacer.

For Tonje, most of his value will be on the offensive end. Keeping that in perspective, though he used his strength effectively against college-level competition, the NBA will be far more physical.
