NEW YORK \u2014 Mitchell Robinson<\/a> has found a new way to keep himself healthy. \u201cI started my own farm,\u201d Robinson said, embracing his self-proclaimed country roots. The Knicks<\/a> center explained<\/a> his reasoning clearly. \u201cIt\u2019s so all my stuff is legit fresh, organic, stuff like that.\u201d His farm is located in Nashville, Tennessee. The 27-year-old entered last season out of shape. This year, he arrived to camp at around 260 pounds. \u201cI feel like that\u2019s perfect for me,\u201d Robinson said, pointing to stability as the focus. Robinson\u2019s value goes beyond numbers. Coach Mike Brown put it simply. \u201cHe can win a game on the offensive glass alone,\u201d he said. Rebounding, rim protection, and vertical spacing are Mitchell Robinson’s key to unlocking New York\u2019s ceiling.<\/p>\n

Brown has already experimented with Robinson in the starting unit. On the first day of training camp, Robinson wore the starters\u2019 blue jersey. The next day, he was with the reserves, swapping with Josh Hart<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ll bounce back and forth between lineups,\u201d Brown explained. \u201cAnd at the end of the day, we\u2019ll figure it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The potential move could push Karl-Anthony Towns<\/a> to power forward. That alignment gives the Knicks size, rebounding, and lob finishing. Similar to the way the Timberwolves<\/a> played KAT and Rudy Gobert<\/a> together. \u201cI can probably throw three alley-oops a game to Mitch,\u201d Brown said. \u201cThe vertical threat that he is, he\u2019s got to be one of the best in the league. If he\u2019s not the best, he\u2019s definitely in the top 3.\u201d<\/p>\n

Contract Uncertainty<\/h3>\n

Robinson is also facing questions about his future. He is eligible for an extension, but no progress has been made. For now, he plays on an expiring $12.9 million deal. \u201cI\u2019m gonna come out here and play hard still regardless, whether it\u2019s my last [year of the contract] or my first [year],\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n

Talks could drag until the trade deadline. If no agreement is reached, the Knicks risk losing him for nothing in free agency. That makes the Mitchell Robinson decision key for New York. Extend him, trade him, or gamble.<\/p>\n

What Comes Next<\/h3>\n

Robinson\u2019s health will define his future. When active, he looks like an All-Defensive candidate. His deal, however, could push New York into the second apron, starting a new financial clock for the team.<\/p>\n
