The fall recruiting season is kicking into high gear of late, with a flurry of 2026 four-star commitments in recent days and more likely on the horizon. Given the transfer portal’s explosion, revenue-sharing and other factors, things had gotten off to a slower start<\/a> than usual when it came to verbal pledges in the 2026 class.<\/p>\n

Fall Recruiting Kicks into High Gear with Flurry of 2026 4-Star Commits<\/h2>\n

The period began earlier this month with high school prospects visiting college campuses. Additionally, college coaches are making trips to players’ open gyms at their high schools or conducting in-home visits. Given these developments, commitments are starting to pour in for college programs around the country.<\/p>\n

One of the latest verbal pledges went to Big Ten Conference member Maryland<\/a>. On Tuesday, four-star power forward Adama Tambedou verbally committed<\/a> to the Terrapins. The 6-foot-8 Tambedou, out of the powerhouse Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Conn., is a top-100 national prospect and a top-20 power forward in the 2026 class. He picked Maryland over\u00a0Oklahoma State, and it’s a great recruiting win for new Terrapins head coach Buzz\u00a0Williams.<\/p>\n

As Fall Recruiting Picks Up, ACC School is on Fire<\/h3>\n

In recent days, Atlantic Coast Conference member Stanford<\/a> has landed two verbal commitments, giving the Cardinal three pledges in a 2026 cycle that is now No. 3 overall, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite<\/a>. Aziz Olajuwon, a four-star wing\/small forward, picked Stanford over Cincinnati, Houston and Vanderbilt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-7 Olajuwon is the son of NBA legend and former Houston Cougars standout Hakeem Olajuwon<\/a>. For the Cardinal to beat out Houston in Aziz Olajuwon’s recruitment is impressive. The top-40 national prospect will spend his senior year at the juggernaut IMG Academy<\/a> in Bradenton, Fla.<\/p>\n

Also in recent days, four-star combo guard Elias Obenyah committed to Stanford. His other finalists, according to 247Sports<\/a>, included California, San Diego State, Saint Mary’s and the University of California San Diego. The 247Sports Composite has Obenyah as a top-20 combo guard and a top-20 prospect coming out of California. He is a senior at Salesian College Prep in Richmond, Calif.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Fall Recruiting has Produced More 4-Star Pledges<\/h3>\n
In recent days, Missouri, Texas A&M, West Virginia and George Mason secured verbal commitments from the class of 2026. Four-star small forward Aidan Chronister, who attends The New School in Fayetteville, Ark., pledged to Southeastern Conference member Missouri over Wake Forest, according to Rivals<\/a>. The 6-foot-7 Chronister is a top-75 national prospect in the 2026 class.<\/div>\n

Neiko Mundey, one of the top guards in the senior cycle, selected Texas A&M out of the SEC<\/a>. He held nearly 20 scholarship offers throughout his recruiting process, from schools such as Auburn, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Texas, USC and Washington, among many others. Mundey, a top-10 point guard\/combo guard in the 2026 class, is a standout at the Prince George’s Christian Academy in Landover, Md.<\/div>\n

During the spring and summer, the 6-foot-3 Mundey was one of the top performers on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. He is ranked as high as No. 44 nationally<\/a> by 247Sports as well as the No. 7 combo guard.<\/div>\n

Aliou Dioum, a four-star center and the No. 80 national prospect in the 2026 class, is headed to West Virginia out of the Big 12 Conference<\/a>. He chose the Mountaineers over Mississippi State and Wake Forest. The 6-foot-10 Dioum is a senior at CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix, which has one of the best high school hoops programs in the country.<\/div>\n

Atlantic 10 Conference school George Mason<\/a> won out for 2026 four-star power forward and top-85 national prospect Shane Pendergrass. The 6-foot-8 Pendergrass picked the Patriots over a final group that also featured California, Louisiana Tech, La Salle, Duquesne and Boise State. He is a senior at the Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
