On Tuesday, the Wolverines landed a massive pledge from 2026 four-star wing/power forward Quinn Costello, according to reports. The 6-foot-10 Costello was arguably the biggest stock riser in the 2026 cycle over the past few months.

Michigan Bolsters 2026 Class with Major 4-Star Stock Riser

Throughout his recruitment, Costello received nearly 30 high-major scholarship offers. He had a final six of Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Purdue and Texas. Dating back to last month, per 247Sports, Costello had taken official visits to Purdue, Minnesota, Michigan State and, most recently, Michigan.

In early August, Rivals national analyst Jamie Shaw wrote that Michigan carried some momentum in Costello’s recruiting process heading into his official visits. Wolverines head coach Dusty May and his staff must have wowed Costello on his recent official visit, as the top-30 national prospect has verbally committed to this Big Ten Conference school.

Michigan Bolsters 2026 Class, Which Has Two Pledges

The Wolverines now have two verbal commits in their 2026 cycle. In early July, international big man Marcus Moller became Michigan’s first pledge in this class. The 7-foot-3 Moller, a center, is from Denmark and has been playing for Unicaja, a professional team in Malaga, Spain. According to 247Sports, others in pursuit of Moller included Colorado State, Oklahoma State and SMU.

With Costello on board, Michigan’s 2026 class sits at No. 20 overall, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. May and his assistants have offered a range of 2026 players. Two high school seniors to keep an eye on, as it relates to the Wolverines, are five-star small forward Anthony Thompson and five-star power forward Miikka Muurinen, per 247Sports.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-159247 size-large" src="https://lastwordonsports.com/basketball/wp-content/uploads/sites/9/2025/09/USATSI_25796515_168402037_lowres-1024x688.jpg" alt="Mar 28, 2025; Atlanta, GA, USA; Michigan Wolverines head coach Dusty May in the first half of a South Regional semifinal of the 2025 NCAA tournament against the Auburn Tigers at State Farm Arena.
