Iowa is on board in its 2026 class, landing a pledge from a four-star prospect Ethan Harris. Harris was also strongly considering<\/a> the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Washington Huskies and Boise State Broncos, per Joe Tipton of Rivals.<\/p>\n

Harris told 247Sports national basketball director Eric Bossi that his decision was based on<\/a> Iowa’s culture and the kind of program that head coach Ben McCollum will be building now that he’s in Iowa City.<\/p>\n

Iowa On Board With Sharpshooting 2026 4-Star Stretch Four<\/h2>\n

Harris, a standout at Camas High School in Camas (Wash.), took an official visit to Iowa in late July. Earlier this month, he officially visited Washington and Gonzaga. McCollum and his staff had to hold off those more recent visits to the Huskies and the Bulldogs to make the first impression on Harris.<\/p>\n

Throughout his recruitment, Harris also received scholarship offers from Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, New Mexico, Oregon State, Portland State, Saint Louis, Seattle, Virginia Tech and Weber State.<\/p>\n

A stock-riser on the AAU circuit this spring and summer, Harris is ranked as high as No. 65 nationally via Rivals. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite places him at No. 94 overall<\/a> in the 2026 class. The 247Sports Composite also has Harris as the 16th-best power forward and top overall high school prospect in Washington. The industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking has him ranked<\/a>\u00a096th nationally, 13th at his position and first in his state.<\/p>\n

Iowa On Board in 2026 with 4-star Power Forward Ethan Harris<\/h3>\n

As a junior at Camas, Harris averaged 18.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game (h\/t 247 Sports). During the 2024-25 campaign, the Papermakers had a strong season<\/a>, going\u00a020-6, per MaxPreps. In the latest AAU season, he had a solid showing for the 17U team of Select Basketball in Puma’s PRO16 league, averaging 9.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.3 steals per encounter.<\/span>\u00a0That being said, he’s poised to have a strong senior year.<\/span><\/p>\n

A versatile and energetic stretch-four at 6-foot-9 and 200 pounds, Harris can shoot well from the perimeter, is a solid ball-handler and has good court vision. Importantly, his national profile has been elevated<\/a> due to his recent performances with Select Basketball, per 247 national analyst Brandon Jenkins<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Iowa is Targeting Other 2026 Prospects<\/h3>\n
With just Harris’s pledge, Iowa’s 2026 recruiting class moves to No. 23 nationally<\/a>, according to the 247Sports Composite. The Hawkeyes have offered scholarships to several four-star players<\/a> in the high school senior class. That lengthy list includes The Rock School shooting guard Joseph Hartman, The Newman School power forward Quinn Costello, Bella Vista Prep small forward Vaughn Karvala, Link Academy power forward Tristan Reed and The Principia School shooting guard Quentin Coleman.<\/div>\n

Iowa has also extended offers to two four-star centers<\/a>: Iowa United Prep’s Arafan Diane and Link Academy’s Ethan Taylor. Keokuk center Jaxon Clark, who is unranked center, has been given a chance to play for the Hawkeyes as well.<\/div>\n

Bird’s Eye View<\/h3>\n
In the 2024-25 season, the Hawkeyes went a disappointing 17-16 overall and 7-13 in Big Ten play. On March 14, Iowa fired long-time head coach Fran McCaffery<\/a>. McCaffery, 66, led the program for 15 seasons and racked up a Hawkeyes’ record 297 wins. On March 24, Iowa named McCollum as McCaffery’s successor<\/a>. Last season, McCollum led Drake to a school-record 31 wins and the 2025 NCAA Tournament’s second round.<\/div>\n
