The Chicago Sky’s season has been disappointing from the start. Now, one of the team\u2019s biggest stars, Angel Reese<\/a>, has added fuel to the fire with her comments after openly expressing her dissatisfaction with the team’s direction. The Sky have struggled to find consistency so far and entered their matchup against the Connecticut Sun with a dismal 9-30 record under head coach Tyler Marsh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview, Reese didn\u2019t hold back her thoughts about the state of the team or where she thinks it needs to go next. With Chicago now out of playoff contention, the 23-year-old had some strong words about the team\u2019s future. That didn’t go down well with many of her teammates and has also caused tension among fans and media.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m not settling for the same **** we did this year,\u201d Reese said<\/a>. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reese also suggested that some veterans on the team may not be able to lead the Sky back to a championship level. She singled out guard Courtney Vandersloot<\/a>, who is nearly 37 and returning from an ACL injury, as perhaps not the right player to build around anymore. She also named Rachel Banham<\/a> and Hailey Van Lith<\/a> as players who might not provide enough strength in the backcourt for a title run.<\/p>\n

Reese Insists She Will Do What’s Best For Her Career<\/h3>\n

Reese made it clear that her loyalty depends on the team\u2019s willingness to improve and insisted that she would only do what’s best for her career. She has never been shy about speaking her mind, and that quality, while admired by some, has now forced the team to confront uncomfortable truths about its roster, leadership, and future.<\/p>\n

“I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me,” She said. “But while I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

There have been reports that tensions have escalated to the point where an internal meeting is being organized, with several players planning to confront Reese directly. Marsh addressed the issue briefly before the Sky\u2019s game against the Sun, asking for patience and privacy. Meanwhile, Reese delivered another double-double against Connecticut with 18 points and 13 rebounds in an 88-64 win, showing that despite the tension, her commitment to competing hasn\u2019t wavered.<\/p>\n
