However, there will also be plenty of Duke Blue Devil involvement. While no Duke player is due for enshrinement, the 2008 Team USA Redeem Team will be enshrined led by Coach K.

2025 Basketball Hall of Fame Adds Blue Devils

While the class will certainly be headlined by Bird, Moore, and Anthony, the 2008 Redeem Team is also a big piece. That Gold medal hit differently following the debacle of the 2004 team that went 5-3. Expect some of those big names to be involved in this enshrinement.

Aug 10, 2012; London, United Kingdom; USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski high fives Kobe Bryant (left) after the men’s basketball semifinals against Argentina in the London 2012 Olympic Games at North Greenwich Arena. He will join the group to be enshrined and will be one of the presenters as well. Coach K will be joined by Jim Boeheim, Jerry Colangelo, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and Jason Kidd to present this incredible group. Krzyzewski should hit the stage in Springfield and will likely have something to say about how special this Redeem Team was.

Along with Coach K, Blue Devil star Carlos Boozer was a contributor to the Redeem Team and will therefore also be enshrined in Springfield. While he only averaged six minutes per game, he still earned a spot on the roster and has the Gold medal to prove it. Quite frankly, even wearing the same jersey as some other guys on this team is an absolute honor.

Coach K USA Tenure

Mike Krzyzewski originally joined Team USA in 1979 and was a part of 21 different Team USA staffs. He officially took the reigns in 2005 when Jerry Colangelo named him head coach. From that time on, he amassed an 88-1 record including 60-1 in major competitions. He claimed 3 Olympic gold medals in his three opportunities as well. That was a big thing considering he took over after the most recent Olympic team only took home a bronze.

He also created a Brotherhood amongst Team USA much like he did with Duke. James, Bryant, Wade, Anthony, Durant, and more were names that often discussed how much Coach K emphasized the importance of playing for their country.

Remembering the 2008 Redeem Team

They do not make documentaries about just anyone. You have to be part of an all-time great story or tragedy. This Redeem Team is certainly the former. You’re talking about a team that averaged 106 points per game beating their opponent’s by an average of 28 points per game.

The group was led by Wade who led the team with 16 ppg, James 15.5 ppg, and Bryant 15 ppg. They also had huge contributions from Anthony and Howard who both averaged double figures. Bosh and Paul were other members of the team that made significant contributions. Other names to mention that saw significant minutes were Kidd and Deron Williams. The reserves included Tayshaun Prince, Michael Redd, and Boozer.

With the impending retirement of the aging NBA stars, we may never see another Redeem Team. Let’s see what the future has in store.

Without a doubt, Duke basketball further leaves an imprint in Springfield with this enshrinement.

© Jeff Swinger-Imagn Images

The 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame class is due to be enshrined in Springfield, Massachusetts on September 6th.
