On Tuesday, July 29, the Trail Blazers finally held their first press conference for new Blazer Jrue Holiday<\/a>. The veteran guard will be a fantastic addition to the team, especially as a mentor to Scoot Henderson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

New Blazer Jrue Holiday Is Embracing His Role With Portland<\/h2>\n

The Portland Trail Blazers made the difficult decision to part ways with Anfernee Simons<\/a> in the offseason. They wanted to keep doubling down on coach Chauncey Billups’ vision<\/a> of playing well on defense. Holiday is the team’s latest addition, and he will boost the team’s defensive potential.<\/p>\n

Portland was already a fantastic defensive team due to Toumani Camara<\/a> and Deni Avdija<\/a> leading the way. With Holiday joining the team, they have one of this generation’s best defenders. He is not only a fantastic defender but also a tremendous mentor to the younger players like Henderson.<\/p>\n

Holiday Will Do His Best To Help The Blazers<\/h3>\n

As a veteran guard, Holiday will play a significant role in helping the team. This is still a team that consists of multiple young players, such as Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe<\/a>. The Trail Blazers’ front office aims to find a balance between the youth and veterans.<\/p>\n

Jrue on Scoot: "Scoot is aggressive. How he gets to the basket is amazing. Me being able to space the floor and shoot the three is something that will help him out. Being able to play off him and knowing that Scoot is the next one up and [helping him] showcase what he can do."<\/p>\n
