NBA fans certainly have more than a handful of podcasts they they can listen to featuring current and former players. Some examples of those players include Paul George<\/a>, Carmelo Anthony<\/a>, LeBron James<\/a>, Jalen Brunson<\/a>, Jeff Teague<\/a>, and Gilbert Arenas<\/a>, just to name a few. Another name has thrown his name into the hat. That player is 2024 NBA champion, Derrick White<\/a>, current member of the Boston Celtics.<\/p>\n

Celtics Champion Latest To Join NBA Player Podcasting World<\/h2>\n

Derrick White Starts Podcast<\/h3>\n

Getting ready to enter his ninth NBA season, White\u2019s new podcast debuted on Monday and is entitled White Noise.\u00a0<\/em>His co-host on the podcast is his good friend, Alex Welsh. The two were teammates at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs prior to White transferring after his junior year to Colorado. The first episode talked about when White was traded to the Celtics, playing Division II basketball, and how the offseason has been going.<\/p>\n

While Welsh never made it to the NBA, he did spend a couple years playing overseas in Switzerland. Apparently the two have remained close friends despite not being teammates for about a decade.<\/p>\n

Successful Playing Career<\/h3>\n

Now 31 years old, White\u2019s successes in basketball weren\u2019t expected. The 6-foot-4 guard had to settle for playing collegiately at a Division II school. He wasn\u2019t highly-sought after during his high school career. He showed vast improvement, to the point where he was selected in the first round (29th overall) in the 2017 NBA Draft<\/a> by the San Antonio Spurs.<\/p>\n

It was at the 2022 trade deadline when the Celtics acquired White. Boston gave San Antonio Romeo Langford<\/a>, Josh Richardson<\/a>, and two first round picks. The trade paid immediate dividends for Boston. White made the All-Defensive second team in each of his first two full seasons for them. Of course, it was his second full season where he played a large role for the Celtics in what resulted in a championship.<\/p>\n

The expectations have changed for Boston this upcoming season. Superstar forward Jayson Tatum<\/a> is expected to miss the year with a torn Achilles suffered in the 2025 playoffs. Both Kristaps Porzingis<\/a> and Jrue Holiday<\/a> have been traded off. Al Horford<\/a> remains a free agent, but isn\u2019t expected to re-sign<\/a>. It will be interesting to hear White\u2019s thoughts on the expectations surrounding the 2025-26 season for the Celtics.<\/p>\n
