According to Michael Scotto of HoopHype, there are five teams interested in signing the 23-year-old point guard.

5 Teams Reportedly Interested In Young Point Guard Coming Off Career Season

Rollins became an unrestricted free agent just a couple of days after the Milwaukee Bucks officially made him a restricted free agent. The Bucks rescinded their $2.1 million qualifying offer to Rollins to create enough cap room to sign Myles Turner. The 2022 second-round pick had a career year in 2024-25, which saw his two-way deal converted to a standard one early in March.

Rollins averaged 6.2 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in 56 appearances for the Bucks, the most action of his three-year career. The 6-4 guard increased his production to 10.2 points a game while shooting 48.6% from the field and 45.2% from beyond the three-point line in his 19 starts. He scored in double-figures 15 times, topping the 20-point plateau twice, and produced one double-double.

Analyzing 5 Teams Interested In Ryan Rollins

Mandatory Credit: Michael McLoone-Imagn Images

Despite allowing Rollins to become a free agent, Scotto said that the Bucks are interested in keeping him. Scotto mentioned the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, and Portland Trail Blazers as teams also showing interest.

Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee has 12 players on standard contracts with some flexibility. The Bucks are also $20 million under the luxury tax. The Bucks re-signed Kevin Porter Jr. and traded for Vasilije Micic. They also have Gary Trent Jr. and Andre Jackson Jr. on the roster, along with point guards Jamaree Bouyea and Mark Sears on two-way deals.

While the Bucks’ biggest need is probably another frontcourt player, it wouldn’t hurt them to keep Rollins. He is a better option than Andre Jackson Jr., despite the latter’s versatility. Jackson has a non-guarantee saying the Bucks won’t keep Jackson.

The Bucks, hard-capped at the first apron, own Rollins’ early Bird rights. If Rollins returns to Milwaukee, he figures to compete with Porter and Micic for the Bucks’ starting point guard job.

Los Angeles Lakers

It would seem that the Lakers would have to make a few roster moves if they are serious about signing Rollins. The Lakers have 14 players on standard deals and are over $300,000 above the first apron, where they are subject to the hard cap.

The Lakers do have some flexibility with Shake Milton ($3 million) and Jordan Goodwin, who hold non-guaranteed deals. So, LA could cut bait with both, though that doesn’t make sense as they may not be able to afford Rollins and would still need to add a player. Plus, Goodwin is a better option.

Phoenix Suns

Phoenix is well over the second apron with 12 players signed, and that is without the No.10 pick in this year’s draft, Khaman Malauch. The Suns inked Collin Gillespie to a standard deal. However, unless the Suns buy out Bradley Beal, it doesn’t appear that the Suns will be able to afford Rollins. As it stands now, they can only sign players to a league minimum contract.

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio has at least one open roster spot and is $25 million below the first apron, where the Spurs are hard-capped. Adding another guard is not an absolute need; instead, they should prioritize adding more depth up front — particularly a center.

Portland Trail Blazers

Portland appears to be Milwaukee’s primary competitor for Rollins’ services. The Trail Blazers have 13 players on standard contracts. However, two of the players hold non-guaranteed contracts. The Blazers are also over $23 million below the first apron, where they are hard-capped.

Toumani Camara and Duop Reath are players who hold non-guaranteed contracts; both are expected to be on the Blazers’ roster. The Blazers may move Jrue Holiday, Robert Williams, or Deni Avdija. Regardless of whether the Blazers deal one of those players, they could use another guard.

Photo Credit: © Trevor Ruszkowski, Imagn Images

Ryan Rollins recently became an unrestricted free agent, but it appears that he will find a home.
