Thus, he\u2019s become a building block for Memphis with his defensive prowess and volume scoring. As they continue to strive toward their title aspirations, he\u2019s now set to be cornerstone through 2030.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Massive new deal for Jaren Jackson Jr., including a player option in the final year of the contract in 2029-30, sources said. That being said, with the addition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/e\/edeyza01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zach Edey<\/a>, Jackson primarily played power forward last season. However, it remains to be seen exactly how Tuomas Iisalo will use Jackson after what will be his first offseason as the team\u2019s head coach.<\/p>\n<p>In the eight regular season games he played under Iisalo, Jackson was featured prominently as a scorer. Yet, he wasn\u2019t as impactful as a rim-protector because of Edey\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/10\/12\/why-zach-edeys-size-can-vault-memphis-to-west-contention\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">presence around the rim<\/a>.
