One of the first orders of business, however, will be assembling the team for Summer League, which begins in early July for LA with the <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/lakersnation.com\/lakers-2025-california-classic-summer-league-schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California Classic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One former Laker has already confirmed he\u2019ll be back for offseason play. Would the team be wise to give him another chance?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Lakers Fans Could See Familiar Face in Summer League<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>The Comeback Kid: Quincy Olivari<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an interview with <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?si=Mkg9IMpqcwaO1It9&amp;v=Ci5I4yGkFgQ&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lakers Nation\u2019s Trevor Lane<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/o\/olivaqu01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quincy Olivari<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014who played with the Lakers on a two-way contract\u2014confirmed his status for the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI will definitely be in Summer League,\u201d <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/lakersnation.com\/lakers-news-quincy-olivari-discusses-summer-league-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Olivari said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cTalking with my agent, still kind of working through our options, analyzing different situations. Obviously I love the Lakers franchise but I gotta figure out what\u2019s best for me. I\u2019ve done a couple free agent minicamps and I\u2019ve gone to some teams and got some great feedback, which is also giving me a lot of confidence about what I\u2019ve been doing this summer has been working. But I will definitely be in Summer League, for sure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ex-Xavier guard played sparingly for the purple and gold last season but shined for their G League affiliate. In 31 games for the South Bay Lakers, <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/stats.gleague.nba.com\/player\/1642439\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Olivari put up<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists on .399\/.340\/.789 splits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also discussed the kind of work he\u2019s put in so far, namely grueling workouts with his college coach and frequent check-ins with Lakers senior adviser Kurt Rambis. All of it has come with a lofty goal for next season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNext season I want to be undeniable, that\u2019s the biggest thing I\u2019m taking into it,\u201d Olivari added. \u201cI know I\u2019m gonna make mistakes, I know at times I\u2019m gonna make the wrong decision on the court, I\u2019m not gonna play a whole Summer League season or a whole NBA season with zero turnovers, but just making those reads and being more effective around the basket and just continuing to have fun and spread positive light. This game is beautiful when it\u2019s played the right way and I\u2019m just so locked in on being undeniable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Lakers Should Take Another Flier on Olivari<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the Lakers build out their Summer League roster post-draft, it wouldn\u2019t hurt to give Olivari another opportunity. He lit up the G League with <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nbagleague\/status\/1933259601501434017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">scintillating performances<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, proving his worth as a 3&amp;D workhorse. Mandatory Credit: Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lakers previously filled roster spots (primarily two-ways) with various Summer League standouts\u2014most notably <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/carusal01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alex Caruso<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2017), <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mccluma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mac McClung<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2021) and <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/reaveau01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Austin Reaves<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2021). Even if Olivari doesn\u2019t join the summer squad, the Lakers could always pick him up for training camp down the line.
