The Portland Trail Blazers had an unexpected 2024-25 campaign, finishing with a 36-46 record. It was a massive improvement from the previous season when they had a 21-61 tally. The Blazers’ success will depend on their youth progressing well. Shaedon Sharpe’s<\/a> development will be a key aspect of their future and 2025-26 outlook. It’s clear that head coach Chauncey Billups and the rest of the Blazers’ organization believe in Sharpe.<\/p>\n

Blazers Have High Hopes for Shaedon Sharpe’s Development<\/h2>\n

Most of the success came during the second half of the 2024-25 season<\/a>. The majority of the Trail Blazers’ roster played well, and one of them was Shaedon Sharpe. Midway into the first half of the 2024-25 season, Billups chose to bench Sharpe to motivate him. That worked out for Sharpe, which satisfied Billups. However, he does not want Sharpe to regress<\/a>, as he is a big part of the Blazers’ potential. Sharpe took this move in stride and was a key part of their success.<\/p>\n

Sharpe’s Development Was Clear In The Second Half Of The 2024-25 Season<\/h3>\n

In 39 games since January 19, 2025<\/a>, Sharpe averaged 19 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He was rather inefficient with his shooting, only averaging 31.1% from beyond the arc. Despite that discouraging shooting, Sharpe was playing much better within Billups’ system.<\/p>\n

Sharpe played better defense during the second half of the season. That was what Billups challenged him to do because he was giving up too many points beforehand. With that development, Sharpe showed he has immense potential<\/a>. It has always been evident since his rookie season, especially when he’s playing with a good playmaker.<\/p>\n
