They have done so despite finishing dead last in three-point makes both years (including last in three-point accuracy in 2024-25). They were eliminated in the opening round each time. It would likely behoove the Magic to add some outside shooting this season, and they certainly aren’t the only team that should. Here are seven players who have proven to be accurate three-point shooters that will be free agents this offseason. Each of these guys could potentially be added via just a veteran’s minimum deal, although that is not guaranteed.

Free Agent Three-Point Shooters That Can Be Had For Cheap

Alec Burks

Turning 34 years old on July 20, Alec Burks has played 14 seasons in the NBA. He started 14 games for the Heat this season and connected on 42.5% of his three-point tries. It was actually the fourth time in the last five years that the 6-foot-6 guard/forward made at least 40%. Burks played on a veteran’s minimum deal for Miami and can likely be had at that price again for 2025-26.

Apr 11, 2025; New Orleans, Louisiana, USA; New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado (15) guards Miami Heat guard Alec Burks (18) during the second half at Smoothie King Center. After shooting 38.0% from beyond the arc in 2023-24, the six-year veteran upped that accuracy to 40.9% in 2024-25. Coffey will turn 28 years old in less than a week (June 17) and has completed the three-year, $11 million deal he agreed to.

Seth Curry

The league leader in three-point accuracy in 2024-25 at 45.6%, Seth Curry will be 35 years old on August 23. Now 11 seasons deep, the younger brother of Stephen Curry has made 43.3% of his three-point tries in his NBA career. He played on the veteran’s minimum this season and will likely continue to do so as long as his career continues.

Garrison Mathews

For his career, a two-point shot is a rarity for Garrison Mathews. In 2024-25, 84.8% of his attempts were from beyond the arc, right at his career mark of 84.9%. Mathews shot 39% from three-point territory this season, just above his career accuracy of 38.2%.

Doug McDermott

After a legendary college career at Creighton, Doug McDermott has now played 11 seasons in the NBA. Now 33 years old, his playing time has dwindled as he averaged a career-low 8.1 minutes per contest with the Sacramento Kings in 2024-25. He is still a marksman though, making 43.6% of his three-point attempts this season and 41.1% for his career.

Taurean Prince

Taurean Prince seems like a player who should earn more than the veteran’s minimum. That’s all he signed for this season though on a one-year deal with the Bucks. The 31-year-old’s 43.9% three-point shooting was among the league leaders in 2024-25. That was a career-best for the nine-year forward who is at 38.4% for his career. Prince started 73 games for Milwaukee this season and averaged 8.2 points.

Landry Shamet

Landry Shamet wasn’t able to garner a standard contract last offseason, instead signing an Exhibit 9 deal. He got hurt, and thus was waived, although the New York Knicks re-added him once he was healthy enough to play. The 28-year-old made 39.7% of his three-point tries and is at 38.5% for his career. Shamet also made seven of his 15 three-point attempts in this year’s postseason.

Photo credit: © Michael McLoone-Imagn Images

The Orlando Magic have reached the postseason in each of the last two seasons.
