In an offseason projected to include blockbuster deals, the Lakers could nab a \u201crealistic\u201d trade target from the 305.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Heat Star Considered &#8220;Realistic&#8221; Trade Target for Lakers<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Jovan Buha: Andrew Wiggins \u201cWould Check a Lot of Boxes\u201d for LA<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a Monday livestream of his podcast, \u201cBuha\u2019s Block,\u201d The Athletic\u2019s Jovan Buha reacted to a hypothetical swap that sent <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/wiggian01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andrew Wiggins<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the Lakers for Rui Hachimura. The comment in question pointed out Wiggins&#8217; natural fit as a small forward compared to Hachimura&#8217;s adjustment to one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI like that trade,\u201d <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/a84JVdYCrEY?si=TbN_v5O-1jYJtFx4&amp;t=3487\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buha said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cI know Wiggins has been a popular guy for Lakers Twitter. Mandatory Credit: Dale Zanine-Imagn Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added that Hachimura has been forced to pick up \u201cguys he is not really equipped to guard\u201d and play out of position next to <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/doncilu01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luka Doncic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeBron James<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who tend to guard opposing frontcourt players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI think Rui can be a starting four somewhere else and be in a situation that better suits his skill set,\u201d Buha continued. \u201cAnd I also think that a guy like Wiggins or someone of his ilk could come in and plug some of those holes as a more natural wing defender.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Wiggins May Be 3&amp;D Solution for the Lakers<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2015 Rookie of the Year, Wiggins has solidified himself as a two-way threat over the course of his career. Following his move from the Warriors to the Heat, he averaged 19 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals and a block in 17 games (all starts). He also stuffed the stat sheet with efficiency, shooting 45% from the field, 36% from three and 73% from the free-throw line.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite an excellent regular season, Wiggins could not find the same groove in the first round against the Cavaliers, putting up 11.5 points per game on .372\/.350\/.700 splits. That streakiness&#8212;combined with a <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/15353\/andrew-wiggins\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hefty payday down the road<\/span><\/a>&#8212;<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">may complicate matters, but they shouldn\u2019t distract from what Wiggins brings to the table.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2022 NBA champion would offer a breadth of experience and skill to the Lakers as an athletic three-level scorer who can stop perimeter players. He has also adjusted his game to fit various situations, either as the first option or the fourth. Acquiring Wiggins would solve the Lakers\u2019 issues in the frontcourt while making a significant upgrade on both ends of the floor. Trading Hachimura\u2019s expiring contract (likely as part of a package) would also leave them with enough assets to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/06\/09\/report-lakers-trade-target-walker-kessler-jazz\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pursue a starting center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which remains priority No. 1 this offseason.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andrew Wiggins may be the perfect solution for the Lakers if a deal is in the cards. He&#8217;d give James, Doncic and <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/reaveau01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Austin Reaves<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a reliable starting wing while fortifying their shooting and defense in the process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 Gary A.
