Amid plenty of speculation and the rumors only growing, Reaves\u2019 agent took to social media with a clear message.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>&#8220;Next Year is Going to Be a Show&#8221;: Agent of Lakers G Dispels Trade Rumors<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aaron Reilly, founder of AMR Agency, posted a clear warning to X in light of Reaves\u2019 name appearing in trade rumors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNext year is going to be a show,\u201d he wrote Saturday.\u00a0 \u201cPeople really have no idea what\u2019s to come.\u00a0 Keep putting him in trade rumors for second string centers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Next year is going to be a show. You don\u2019t necessarily need the second best option there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reaves recorded career-highs across the board in his fourth season. In 73 games, he put up 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists on .460\/.377\/.877 splits. However, he could not match that efficiency in the playoffs. LA Times sportswriter Dan Woike has <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/newsletter\/2025-05-15\/will-the-lakers-trade-austin-reaves-not-so-fast\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">already confirmed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/05\/15\/lakers-unlikely-trade-austin-reaves\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lakers won\u2019t trade Reaves<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> unless it\u2019s for a \u201cfoundational important piece\u201d at center, and it should certainly stay that way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purple and gold have proven they value Reaves and his current trajectory as a budding All-Star. His <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/newsletter\/2025-05-15\/will-the-lakers-trade-austin-reaves-not-so-fast\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">current contract<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (four years, $53 million) is viewed as a steal across the league. According to Bleacher Report\u2019s Eric Pincus, <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/25198475-how-la-lakers-are-trying-fix-biggest-roster-weakness\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reaves is \u201cnearly sure\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to decline his $14.9 million player option in favor of a starting salary around $30 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reaves has fit like a glove in LA amid the team\u2019s many iterations, and his adaptability was one of several reasons why he and Doncic succeeded as a backcourt. With <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeBron James<\/span><\/a> <a  href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nba\/article\/lebron-james-agent-rich-paul-on-whether-lakers-superstar-will-return-for-another-nba-season-i-have-no-idea-131938470.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">still undecided<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on his future with the Lakers, the team would only benefit from locking Reaves up on a new deal. He is an ideal complement to James and Doncic with his offensive firepower, and at 26 years old, the best is truly yet to come.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following LA\u2019s early exit, Reaves reflected on gelling with the two superstars, saying their chemistry will come with time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cJust continuing to grow together,\u201d <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/lakersnation.com\/lakers-news-austin-reaves-emphasizes-need-lebron-james-luka-doncic-grow-together\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reaves said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cObviously they\u2019re unbelievable basketball players and the more time we spend, not with just them, but the whole unit, you\u2019re just gonna become more cohesive, more together, know exactly what you\u2019re gonna do every possession when things get tough, you\u2019re rolling with how you want to play the game. I thought we did a really good job of that in the regular season and we just didn\u2019t play good enough in this series.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The Last Word<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both Reaves and the Lakers have some time to decide on what the future looks like for both parties.
