The Milwaukee Bucks were massively struggling out of the gate, all while Giannis was putting up spectacular numbers. The Bucks weren&#8217;t winning, though, and early on, his future in Milwaukee was coming under the microscope. It was further escalated after the Bucks were sent packing in five games by the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/05\/11\/tyrese-haliburton-stat-shows-pacers-need-him-more-assertive\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Indiana Pacers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Now, while the playoffs continue and Milwaukee gears up for the offseason, speculation on\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/04\/30\/bucks-eliminated-top-giannis-antetokounmpo-trade-destinations\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Gianni&#8217;s status with the Bucks<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is fair to question, but it would seem that he has now opened the doors to that part of his future: leaving Milwaukee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Giannis Antetokounmpo Opens Doors for Future Decision<\/h2>\n<h3>ESPN&#8217;s Shams Charania reports the latest on Giannis Antetokounmpo&#8217;s future with the Milwaukee Bucks<\/h3>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ShamsCharania\/status\/1921909954014839207?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to ESPN&#8217;s senior NBA writer, Shams Charania<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Giannis is open-minded about his future with the Bucks or elsewhere. I<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">n the past<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, the former champion has never wavered in his loyalty or support of the Bucks organization. Giannis could have left already, forcing a trade or refraining from signing new contracts. Yet, he has remained willing to stick it out and has a title to show for it. However, given Milwaukee&#8217;s abrupt first-round exit, Shams writes in his ESPN feature that things may be changing on Giannis&#8217;s front.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The two-time NBA MVP has not made any firm decisions on his Bucks future after the franchise&#8217;s third consecutive postseason exit in the first round, but for the first time in his career, Antetokounmpo is open-minded about exploring whether his best long-term fit is remaining in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere, league sources told ESPN.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shams also reports that Giannis&#8217;s representatives are expected to meet with the Bucks this summer to discuss the future. Regarding the summer, this offseason is expected to be active with teams like the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/05\/09\/lakers-offseason-trade-prospects\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Los Angeles Lakers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/05\/06\/houston-rockets-offseason-crossroads\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Houston Rockets<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, to name a few, looking to make significant improvements to their rosters. It&#8217;s also important to keep an eye on the Celtics. If they were to go out early in these playoffs, there might also be some activity in Boston. He has one ring, but Giannis has long held to the notion that one is not enough. Already, Giannis will go down as one of the greats. However, he wants to be a great with multiple rings, which is a different echelon altogether.
