Los Angeles Clippers<\/strong>\u00a0rookie\u00a0Brice Johnson<\/a><\/strong> suffered an acute herniated disc in his lower back during the fourth quarter of L.A.’s\u00a0preseason win over the Toronto Raptors<\/strong> at Staples Center<\/strong> on October 6th. The injury will keep him out indefinitely, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Clippers Brice Johnson Out Indefinitely With Lower Back Injury<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s tough for a rookie,\u201d said Clippers head coach <\/a>Doc Rivers<\/a><\/strong>, confirming the injury. \u201cHe\u2019s not going to miss the year or anything, but just missing two weeks, three weeks, four weeks, for a guy who\u2019s that young, that\u2019s a hard break for him. But it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is unknown whether or not Johnson will require surgery. According to Broderick Turner<\/strong> of the Los Angeles Times<\/strong><\/a>, the Clippers will try to rehab Johnson\u2019s back with hopes of avoiding such measures.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear how\u00a0the 6’10” power\u00a0forward’s\u00a0absence will impact\u00a0the Clippers’ upcoming season.\u00a0Johnson averaged a solid 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for the Clippers during summer league play<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Clippers selected Johnson 25th overall in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft<\/strong> this past\u00a0June. Johnson previously played all four years of collegiate basketball at\u00a0the University of North Carolina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
