When Mind the Game season 2 was announced by\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">LeBron James<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0on <em>The Pat McAfee Show<\/em> a month ago, and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/n\/nashst01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Steve Nash<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0would take over for JJ Redick, you expected Nash to get another head coaching opportunity for the 2025-26 season. LeBron tried to get ahead of it by making an important disclaimer at the start of the first episode: if Nash got another coaching job, it wasn&#8217;t because of the podcast. Well, Nash won&#8217;t be following in Redick&#8217;s footsteps directly, but he will follow in them differently as the former two-time league MVP is returning to the NBA.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Steve Nash Goes from Podcast Chair to Amazon Studio Chair<\/h2>\n<h3>Steve Nash headed to Amazon for 2025-26 NBA coverage<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Nash&#8217;s first\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/04\/26\/low-rating-nets-coach-jordi-fernandez\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">coaching gig with the Brooklyn Nets<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0went every which way he wouldn&#8217;t have wanted it to. The Nets massively underachieved, but it wasn&#8217;t all on Nash&#8217;s shoulders. It was a drama-filled, injury-plagued tenure for which he can hardly be blamed. Pay any attention to <a  href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rX9oaWY110Q\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">him and LeBron during the podcast episodes<\/a>. There&#8217;s no doubt Nash knows basketball, and his IQ is incredibly high. He can coach, and he may one day get that second opportunity. For now, Nash is taking his talents to a different NBA sphere: the studio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/marcstein.substack.com\/p\/sources-hall-of-famer-steve-nash\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On Tuesday, NBA insider Marc Stein of The Steinline reported<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0that Nash will begin working for Amazon next season. He&#8217;ll be part of the studio coverage that includes former\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/04\/27\/james-harden-clippers-title-chances\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Los Angeles Clippers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0star <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/griffbl01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Blake Griffin<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and Nash&#8217;s former Dallas Mavericks teammate,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/n\/nowitdi01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dirk Nowitzki<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. TNT&#8217;s NBA reporter Taylor Rooks will host Amazon&#8217;s studio coverage. Watching Nash and Nowitzki chalk it up in a studio setting about basketball should be enjoyable. Considering we&#8217;ve been listening to Nash chalk it up with LeBron about the very same thing, there is every reason to believe he will succeed in his upcoming role.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Together again<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Nowitzki factor may be the most exciting aspect of Nash joining Amazon. The two former teammates started playing together in Dallas in 1999. It was Nowitzki&#8217;s rookie season, and they played together for six years before Nash returned to the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/04\/23\/suns-ownership-mat-ishbia-interested-in-bob-myers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Phoenix Suns<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, with whom he was drafted. In those six years, the Mavericks made the playoffs in four consecutive seasons and the Western Conference finals in 2003. Nash returned to Phoenix the following season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nash and Nowitzki had great chemistry on the floor together. It will be exciting to see what type of chemistry they can build together in the studio, talking about the very game they excelled in at the highest level.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 Mark J.
