The introduction of the transfer portal has caused chaos in roster building. This again comes true as unanimous All-American selection PJ Haggerty announced on Thursday that he intends to enter the transfer portal.

All-American Guard PJ Haggerty Set to Enter the Transfer Portal

Haggerty is no stranger to the transfer portal. This will be his fourth stop in his college basketball career. He began at TCU, where he only appeared in 6 games. Then he transferred to Tulsa, where he began to make a name for himself. He was the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year. Finally, he moved up to Memphis for his most recent season, where he truly became a star. Haggerty was a second-team All-American selection and won the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year award. He will now enter the transfer portal for a third time with two years of eligibility.

Possible Transfer Spots

Haggerty will be one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal. He will also command an incredible payday. There are very few schools that have the money and playing time needed to land such a highly-touted prospect. There are not many rumors right now about where he would land, but there are a few logical landing spots.

Alabama would make the most sense for Haggerty. The Crimson Tide lost its star point guard, Mark Sears, to graduation. Alabama has strong NIL and a lot of playing time to offer. Kentucky is another school in need of a lead guard. The Wildcats are rumored to be after North Dakota transfer Treysen Eaglestaff. With Haggerty now an option, Mark Pope and the Wildcats may shift their attention his way. A final team would be Texas. The Longhorns need guards, and Haggerty is a Texas native. Many schools will attempt to land him, and more details will be available in the coming weeks.

For a few years, fans and pundits have been saying college basketball is the wild west.
