Their next opponent may not have a consensus No. 1 draft pick on their roster, but with Walter Clayton Jr. now getting comparisons to four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry, they’ll have their hands full.

With that being said, while most people will be waiting to see who’ll be cutting down the nets, the Oklahoma State Cowboys will be focused on different type of victory.

Can Cowboys’ Latest CBB Transfers Bring Cougars Magic?

On Sunday, LSU transfer Vyctorious Miller reportedly committed to Oklahoma State, a team that finished their 2024-25 campaign with just a slightly better record (17-18) than the Tigers (14-18).

A 6-foot-5 guard, Miller was ranked 45th in the Class of 2024 by ESPN. The four-star recruit entertained offers from more than a dozen programs coming out of AZ Compass Prep before deciding to attend a program in Louisiana, where his family is all but royalty. He’s a cousin of Cougars guard Mercy Miller, who is in turn one of rapper-turned-businessman Master P’s sons and the younger brother of former rap star Romeo Miller. His father, former rap artist Silkk Tha Shocker, was signed to music label that his older brother (Master P) founded.

His family’s notoriety hasn’t led to Vyctorius becoming a household name. However, his game could. As a true freshman, Miller averaged 8.9 points per game on 44.7 percent shooting from the field this season. Athletic and instinctive, his ability to get to the rim and score from outside give him the look of a future NBA prospect.

Will that be enough for Oklahoma State to make a run to the NCAA Tournament?

Two-Step

In the past four seasons, the Cowboys have finished with a record that was .500 or below all but once.

In that season (2022-23), they went 20-16 and 8-10 in the Big 12 conference under former head coach Michael Boynton. Miller, who played 19.0 minutes per game in 2024-25, should certainly expect to see the floor a healthy amount. Given the Cowboys’ offensive struggles, his upside at that end could truly provide a necessary spark.

However, not only does he fit the team needs from a skill standpoint, he’s in prime position to replace super senior Bryce Thompson.

In 2024-25, Thompson led the Cowboys in minutes per game (26.9), points per game (13.0), and points produced (410) while ranking fourth in made 3s (34). There’s little to suggest that Miller couldn’t step into Thompson’s shoes, even with Oklahoma State adding a prolific scorer in Green Bay transfer Anthony Roy. To that point, Roy averaged 25.7 points per game in 2024-25. Unfortunately, his junior season ended early due to a foot injury.

A 6-foot-3 guard with an elite shooting stroke, Roy should enter the season as a starter if healthy. With the addition of him and Miller, the Cowboys may very well find themselves square dancing this time next year. The question for Oklahoma State is if they should start Miller or Pictish pickpocket Arturo Dean alongside him.

Dean, 5-foot-11, led the team and Big 12 with 2.5 steals per game in 2024-25. In fact, he’s led his conference in steals per game in each of the past three seasons. In 2024, the Miami native transferred from Conference USA’s Florida International.

© William Purnell-Imagn Images

Tonight, the Houston Cougars will duel with the Florida Gators in the 2025 NCAA Tournament National Championship; their reward for taking down Cooper Flagg and the Duke Blue Devils in a miraculous comeback.
