And conversely, even if a jersey is uglier than a Christmas sweater, it\u2019s beloved simply because of what it harks back to.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jerseys play an integral part of fandom, which is why <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/08\/21\/surprise-names-excluded-from-nba-2k25s-top-50\/\" target=\"_self\">NBA 2K<\/a> has made such a concerted effort to include the most iconic editions in the game. But they don\u2019t always get it right. These are the jerseys that are either entirely missing or severely underrepresented in recent versions of the game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Toronto Raptors: City Edition (New for 2024-25)\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The old-school dunking <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hJOQ_FXD2xA\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dino jerseys<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been a mainstay in 2K for a while, and for good reason. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They\u2019re just brilliant. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the Raptors replaced it with its bland successor, it should have been branded a federal crime.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The franchise is doing its part to cover up its questionable jersey past by introducing a new City edition, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dino style. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toronto is calling it a \u2018mix tape\u2019 of its history, and it\u2019s an accurate description of the design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, these jerseys are primarily about the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">visual<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Sure, we have the Carter dunks, the Stoudamire assists, but that era was relatively weak result-wise. But it doesn\u2019t matter, the Vinsanity-era design will live on as one of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.owayo.co.uk\/magazine\/most-famous-and-iconic-basketball-jerseys-en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the iconic NBA jerseys<\/span><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><b>Miami Heat: Vice Series (First Seen in 2017-18)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even the designers responsible for the Miami Vice campaign could not have predicted just how popular the series would become. The numbers are seriously impressive for this jersey. Over 50% of the total number sold since the first Vice edition made its debut has belonged to the series. That means it\u2019s more popular than the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">primary<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Heat jersey<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The original run ended back in 2021, but when something is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">successful, it\u2019s no surprise the franchise is<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/sports\/nba\/miami-heat\/article298607448.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bringing back the popular white version<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. And now that it\u2019s official, 2K should do the same.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Denver Nuggets: Rainbow Skyline (1980s)\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps one of the most underrated jersey designs in NBA history, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/joelrush\/2018\/11\/01\/more-than-a-jersey-nuggets-rainbow-skyline-revival-embraces-their-historical-identity-and-culture\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Nuggets rainbow skyline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is still one of the most-loved designs for Denver fans. The design does make an appearance in 2K, but there is one irritating error in this year\u2019s game: the numbers are the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">wrong colour.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that pretty much sums up how 2K is seriously underutilizing this design. The formula is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">epic<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: pixelated rainbows, the city skyline, and the Rocky Mountains, are all enveloped by a bold and colourful design.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It symbolizes a high-scoring, fast-paced era in basketball &#8211; games going into the 140s were not rare. Wear this edition, and you will get old school fans waxing lyrical about legends like Alex English and Fat Lever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Seattle SuperSonics: Green and Gold (1979 Vintage)\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sonics\u2019 green and gold jersey is historic and heart-wrenching, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">both in equal measure. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the 70s right through the start of this century, legends like Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, and Ray Allen donned the uniform worn by the only team in the Pacific Northwest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The design is simple, yet iconic. Sleek green, gold accents, clean typography. No gimmicks, no flash, just old school style that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoophall.com\/hall-of-famers\/james-naismith\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">James Naismith<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would have been proud of.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s a reason 2K struggles with this uniform, as the team left Seattle in controversial circumstances. The team now resides in OKC, with the old uniform fading into history.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But now, there are talks Seattle may welcome an expansion team. Will the Thunder cede the Sonics\u2019 history to its ancestral home, should this happen? We hope so.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Look, before we sign off, this isn\u2019t meant to be a roasting of NBA 2K. The retro jerseys the game <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">does <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feature are legendary and very much appreciated. The Rockets\u2019 pinstripe pajamas, the Vancouver Grizzlies pure 90s teal design, the Shaq and Penny Orlando Magic series, they\u2019re all there.
