Additionally, Anthony’s basketball impact goes beyond the NBA. He has influenced many players of the current generation, and he had an exciting playstyle. Furthermore, Anthony was dominant in Olympic play and in college.

In February, Miami Heat president Pat Riley spoke about Anthony. Riley called the Brooklyn native “one of the great players.”

“He’s one of the great players, ever. Can shoot. Good size. Athletic. And carried a franchise in Denver for a long time, went to New York. Always a tough cover so you had to game plan for him every night. And had a great career.”

Furthermore, in November, Knicks big man Karl-Anthony Towns called Anthony “one of the greatest of all time.”

I’m a huge Carmelo Anthony fan,” said Towns, who grew up in New Jersey. “Melo’s been an integral part of my childhood and playing basketball, and if I could have kind of the career that he’s had, I’d be very, very, very blessed and honored to even be close to one of the greatest of all time.“It was cool when I was able to see Melo on the court and play against him, but in a weird way being here in New York and to be a Knick and to be with one of the greatest Knicks of all time in my life, is pretty cool.”

The Last Word

In his prime, Anthony was a top player in the league.
