Other than two years where he was a full-time starter, Clarkson has mainly played the microwave scorer role off the bench. Traded to the Utah Jazz in December of 2019, he won Sixth Man of the Year in his first full season with the team in 2019-20. Now in his fifth full year with the Jazz, it was announced on Wednesday that the 6-foot-3 guard will miss the remainder of the season. That begs the question, has Jordan Clarkson played his last game donning the jersey of the Jazz?

Has Jordan Clarkson Played His Last Game With The Utah Jazz?

Season Ends Prematurely For The 11-Year Veteran

Last playing on March 23, Clarkson won’t see NBA action again until the 2025-26 season. It has been announced by the team that the 32-year-old will be out for the remainder of the regular season. This is due to a medical procedure being done to address plantar fasciitis in his left foot. With Utah nowhere near playoff contention, the team probably found it wise to get it done sooner than later.

Clarkson’s season will end prematurely after he played in 37 outings. Playing 26.0 minutes per contest, he posted averages of 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. He has shot 40.8% from the field, 36.2% from beyond the arc, and 79.7% from the free-throw line.

The seasonal averages for Clarkson are right around his career marks of 16.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He has now averaged at least 15 points in seven straight seasons, including a career-best 20.8 in 2022-23. On top of previously winning Sixth Man of the Year, he has also finished fourth and seventh in voting.

Jordan Clarkson May Have Played His Last Game With The Jazz

During his 11-year career, Clarkson has played for three teams. Prior to joining the Jazz, he started his NBA journey with the Los Angeles Lakers, followed by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Could he be playing for a fourth squad come next season?

Turning 33 on June 7, Clarkson doesn’t align with the timeline of the rebuilding Jazz. He is nearly five years older than any other player on the roster (next oldest is Lauri Markkanen). After this season, Clarkson has one year left on his deal worth about $14.3 million.

As an expiring deal at a reasonable salary, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Clarkson get dealt in the summer. He was oft-rumored to be dealt at the trade deadline this year, but instead, he remained with the Jazz. While an imperfect player, there are many teams that would enjoy having his scoring prowess come off their bench.

It certainly seems like there’s a good chance that Clarkson has played his last game with the Utah franchise. He has scored the 18th-most points in team history with 5,985. His career-high of 45 points came on March 12, 2022 while playing for the Jazz against the Sacramento Kings. Clarkson recorded his first triple-double last season on New Year’s Day when he finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists against the Dallas Mavericks.

Photo credit: © Peter Creveling-Imagn Images

Now in his 11th season in the NBA, Jordan Clarkson has been able to score in bunches through much of his time in the league.
