On the heels of a compelling freshman campaign, Arizona State transfer Joson Sanon<\/a> has committed to St. John\u2019s, per ESPN\u2019s Jonathan Givony.<\/p>\n

As could be expected, the chance to play for Red Storm head coach Rick Pitino was a huge factor in Sanon\u2019s decision, according to LIFT SPORTS agent Derek Malloy. Pitino, universally one of the greatest college coaches of all-time, has the fifth-most wins (885) in NCAAM history.<\/p>\n

In 2024-25, Pitino\u2019s second season at St. John\u2019s, the Red Storm went 31-5. It\u2019s the first time that the team 31 games in a single season since 1985-86, when they were coached by Lou Carnesecca. They earned their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2018-19, when they went 21-13 under Chris Mullin<\/a>, a Hall of Fame NBA player.<\/p>\n

Joson Sanon commits to St. John’s less than 24 hours after entering the transfer portal. I asked his agent Derek Malloy about the quick decision.<\/p>\n
