They are 41-30 and own the No. 6 seed in the West. After it looked like the Warriors were potentially in danger of missing the postseason, they are now sitting comfortably in the playoff picture. Much of this turnaround has to do with the arrival of Jimmy Butler, whom the Warriors traded for to pair alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. While many had doubts about Butler’s fit alongside Green, they have made it work. Recently, Kerr compared Butler and Green to another duo he is very familiar with–Chicago Bulls legends Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

Kerr played alongside Jordan and Pippen and won three championships with them. To many, Jordan and Pippen are the greatest duo in NBA history. Still, Kerr compared Butler and Green to them because of their intelligence, athleticism, and versatility.

“Pippen and Jordan,” Kerr told ESPN of his legendary former Bulls teammates.

“Just incredible intelligence and athleticism combined with versatility. There’s definitely some of that.”

Steve Kerr Compares Warriors Teammates to Historic Bulls Duo

Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green Have a Bond

In a recent interview, Butler spoke about his bond with Green. Despite both of them being very vocal as leaders, they are seemingly getting along well. According to Butler, they are on the same page and have a lot in common.

“Two winners that would do anything to win,” Butler told ESPN of his relationship with Green. “He could care less about personal success. He’s just trying to win a championship. I just want to win. I don’t give a f— about nothing else. We ain’t going to never butt no motherf—ing heads. … That’s what people keep overlooking. They think like we going to get in fist fights. No we not. Because all we want to do is win.”

“We got a lot in common with kids, our love for basketball,” Butler said. “Small town individuals that happen to end up on a big-time college basketball squad, late draft picks that have overcome everything to become who they are today. That’s what those conversations are and I just appreciate it. I shed grace on everybody that just wants to sit here and s— on Jimmy Butler III and talk. But it’s because you don’t know what I’m doing. Nobody does.”

The duo has played well together so far. It remains to be seen how far they can take the team, but it is looking good for them early on.

The Last Word

As it stands, the Warriors are in a good spot to compete for a championship this year. The addition of Butler has been great for them up to this point. However, the Warriors have a lot of competition, especially in the West. Regardless, with Curry, Green, and Butler on the same team, there are reasons to believe the Warriors can make a deep run this year.

Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn Images

With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, head coach Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors are in a good spot.
