Signed to a two-way contract in February, the 26-year-old has averaged 6.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 13 games, all on .493\/.438\/.667 shooting splits. However, despite his strong play, Goodwin\u2019s contract limits his appearances with LA, an issue that head coach <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/03\/11\/lakers-jj-redick-stan-van-gundy-coaching-mentor\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JJ Redick<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recently addressed.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Lakers News: JJ Redick Comments on Jordan Goodwin Dilemma<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Redick: Goodwin\u2019s Situation is \u201cVery Complicated\u201d<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first-year head coach discussed Goodwin\u2019s current situation ahead of LA\u2019s game against the San Antonio Spurs Monday night. Redick\u2019s answer was in response to Orange County Register writer Khobi Price.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It&#8217;s very complicated because he&#8217;s really earned the trust of the coaching staff. But this is unfortunately the nature of the two-way contracts and having a full roster. So again, it&#8217;s something, similar to Trey (Jemison), we&#8217;re just gonna manage. I think with guys being out, we can&#8217;t really afford to have him out of the rotation right now and then we&#8217;ll see as we get healthy.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Per <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/khobi_price?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@khobi_price<\/a>, Jordan Goodwin only has around 7 games left on his two-way contract, so he asked JJ Redick how they will manage that considering he is part of the rotation:<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It&#39;s very complicated because he&#39;s really earned the trust of the coaching staff. Despite his otherwise meager numbers, Redick heaped praise on the newest Lakers guard for setting the tone defensively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNever judge a player based solely on his box score,\u201d <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.silverscreenandroll.com\/2025\/3\/17\/24388044\/lakers-jj-redick-jordan-goodwin-starter-performance-stats-suns\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redick said Sunday<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cJordan Goodwin was incredible tonight and he had two points and four fouls. He set the tone for us. They\u2019re an incredibly difficult team to guard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/LakersEmpire\/status\/1901367680114082291<\/p>\n<h3><b>Goodwin is Paramount for the Lakers<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goodwin is the latest in a long line of success stories for the Lakers. His defense has fit right into the team\u2019s scheme\u2014particularly against the league\u2019s elite players\u2014and his offense has helped the shorthanded roster tremendously. His effort has been enough for Redick to give him a rotation spot this late into the season, a bold and laudable move that has paid dividends given the current situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the time of writing, <a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mcten\/status\/1901817545910546648\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Goodwin will start his third straight game<\/a> Monday night against the Spurs. The most games he has started in a season is 12, a mark he reached last year with the Memphis Grizzlies. He will not reach that mark this time around, but he\u2019s proven he can slide into the starting lineup and be a positive presence for LA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By now, there is no doubt Goodwin has paid his dues and earned a standard contract with the purple and gold. However, one question to consider is how his current trajectory would impact other rotational guards, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/03\/12\/gabe-vincent-continues-to-excel-for-lakers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">namely<\/span><\/a> <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/vincega01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gabe Vincent<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who has stepped up as a veteran backup this year. At first glance, when healthy, it seems Goodwin\u2019s emergence could negatively impact Vincent and his minutes. However, the duo has learned to coexist together so far. In 11 games and nine minutes per contest, <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/stats\/lineups\/traditional?CF=GROUP_NAME*E*j.%20Goodwin&amp;GroupQuantity=2&amp;TeamID=1610612747&amp;slug=traditional\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they combined for an average<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of 21 points and 4.4 assists on .459\/.349\/.842 splits.
