The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/03\/09\/stephen-curry-career-points-milestone\/\" target=\"_self\">greatest shooter of all-time<\/a> is getting up there in years, but he thinks he has many more games to play. There have been questions about whether he will hang things up after his current contract. In a recent interview with 95.7 The Game, Curry clarified his thoughts on how long he will play, and Warriors fans will be quite happy with his answer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Warriors Legend Says He Isn\u2019t Retiring Any Time Soon<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>The Current Curry Contract<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Curry is currently on a max contract that is much deserved. He has one more year left on the deal after this one and is <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/6287\/stephen-curry\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">owed about $62 million<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in that final season. He is still one of the best players in the league, and he has his eyes on one final accomplishment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Curry Wants Number Five<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Curry, it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/02\/24\/are-the-warriors-proving-to-be-contenders-with-butler\/\" target=\"_self\">all about championships<\/a>. He doesn\u2019t care if he gets the credit or scores all the points; for him and the Warriors, it has always been about winning above everything else. Luckily for Curry, he\u2019s gotten to do plenty of that. Still, Curry wants more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4bGZt_kloOA&amp;ab_channel=95.7TheGame\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Curry\u2019s interview, <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he said, \u201cSomebody asked me this summer, \u2018What are you still playing for?\u2019 [Number five] That\u2019s literally the only thing you\u2019re playing for\u2026 I like where we\u2019re at right now. I think we have what it takes to do it. But I\u2019m not fast-forwarding to saying, \u2018Oh, we\u2019re a championship team right now\u2019 because we have another level to get to.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That fifth championship isn\u2019t going to come easily. Right now, it seems like the addition of <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/butleji01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jimmy Butler<\/a> has breathed new life into the Warriors. Butler\u2019s arrival has also helped Curry find a new hunger for winning that didn\u2019t seem as prevalent earlier in the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Steph Showing Age is Just a Number<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Part of why people were starting to wonder about what would happen after Curry\u2019s contract was over is that he has been showing signs of decline. Besides his five-game 2019-2020 season, Curry\u2019s scoring average is the lowest it\u2019s been in a decade. He is still averaging 24.5 points a game however, which is pretty damn impressive for a 36-year old.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is even more impressive is Curry\u2019s play over the last ten games. <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.statmuse.com\/nba\/ask\/steph-curry-stats-in-the-last-10-games\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Curry has averaged<\/a> 29.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.7 rebounds during that span, and with Butler at his side, he has looked like one of the best players in the NBA again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If Curry can keep up this level of play, the Warriors really could win that fifth championship. If it doesn\u2019t happen this year, Warriors fans shouldn\u2019t worry.
