Since being selected seventh overall in the 2009 NBA Draft, Curry has marveled those watching him for 16 seasons (and counting). Already the career leader in three-pointers made, he has been rapidly moving up other NBA leaderboards as well and reaching various milestones. The great Stephen Curry reached another career milestone on Saturday.

Stephen Curry Hits Another Career Milestone Against Pistons

Stephen Curry Reaches 25K Career Points

On Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Detroit Pistons by the score of 115-110. The victory improved the Warriors record on the season to 36-28. It wasn’t the most efficient night for Curry, but it was still a productive one. The soon-to-be 37-year-old (birthday on March 14) finished the outing with 32 points.

After Curry connected on a three-pointer with 8:32 left in the third quarter, he officially became a member of another exclusive club. That three allowed him to become just the 26th player in NBA history to reach 25,000 career points. The 6-foot-2 guard entered Saturday just 15 points shy of the mark. After the game, he now has 25,017 for his career.

A four-time NBA champion, he is averaging 24.5 points over his 55 contests in 2024-25. That is just shy of his career scoring average of 24.7 in his 16 years in the league. Curry has won two scoring titles in his career. They came in 2015-16 and 2020-21 when he averaged 30.1 and 32.0 points respectively. He has averaged more than 20 per contest in every season since 2012-13. Curry is hitting 93.4% of his free-throws and is on track to lead the league in accuracy for the fifth season of his career.

Another career milestone is on the horizon for Curry as he sits just seven made three-pointers away from becoming the first player to connect on 4,000.

Moving On Up The Career Leaderboard

Having scored a total of 1,349 points this season, Curry has passed some legendary players just this year alone on the all-time scoring list. This season, he has overtaken Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, and Patrick Ewing on the career leaderboard. Those are some iconic names, and Curry may be passing more soon as his career continues.

The Warriors have 18 games remaining on the season. If Curry were to appear in all of them, and averaged the 24.5 points he has averaged this year, he would score an additional 441 points. That would give him 24,458 for his career which would also surpass the totals of Jerry West (25,192) and Reggie Miller (25,279). Players such as Alex English (25,613) and Vince Carter (25,728) would be guys that Curry could surpass fairly early into the 2025-26 season.

Just like Curry is quickly ascending up career leaderboards, Golden State is doing likewise in the standings. Saturday’s win improved their record to 11-1 with Jimmy Butler in the lineup since they acquired him from the Miami Heat. Not too long ago, the Warriors were outside even a Play-In Tournament position. They are now sixth in the Western Conference. Curry and his Golden State team certainly will not be a squad that anyone would look forward to playing in the opening round of the postseason.

Photo credit: © David Gonzales-Imagn Images

Stephen Curry is already known by the majority of fans as the greatest shooter of all-time.
