Denver Nuggets<\/strong><\/a> shooting guard Gary Harris<\/a><\/strong> is set to miss four-to-six weeks, with a partially torn groin injury. Harris picked up the injury during Monday’s pre-season game against the Toronto Raptors<\/strong><\/a>. As a result of the\u00a0injury, Harris played just 10 minutes on the night.<\/p>\n

Adrian Wojnarowski<\/strong> of The Vertical<\/strong> broke the news of the injury.<\/p>\n

Gary Harris Set to Miss 4-6 Weeks With Groin Injury<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Harris, 22, was set to be the starting shooting guard this coming season. But with this injury, Harris will likely miss the first game of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and possibly longer. Last season Harris developed into a productive\u00a0starter for the Nuggets. After a promising rookie year, the Nuggets installed Harris as the starting shooting guard in his second season.<\/p>\n

Last season Harris averaged 12.3 points, 1.9 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 76 games. Harris is progressing well, and is a part of a good young core in Denver. In Harris’s absence, Will Barton<\/a><\/strong> and rookie Jamal Murray<\/a><\/strong> will fill the gap. Barton is usually the Nuggets sixth man, but will have an opportunity to show what he can do as a starter in Denver.<\/p>\n

With Harris’s injury, Nuggets fans will have an early opportunity to get a look at No.7 overall pick Jamal Murray. Expect Murray to get more pre-season minutes in the remaining games scheduled by the Nuggets. The Canadian<\/strong> guard out of Kentucky<\/strong>, is just one a of a group of talented young players on Denver’s roster<\/a><\/strong>. The Nuggets have an exciting young roster. With Emmanuel Mudiay<\/a><\/strong>, Nikola Jokic<\/a><\/strong>, Jusuf Nurkic<\/a>,\u00a0Malik Beasley<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and Murray all 22 or under. Maybe not tomorrow, or the next day. But two or three years down the line, this Nuggets team could develop into something special.<\/p>\n

The Nuggests drafted Harris 19th overall in the 2014 NBA<\/strong> draft out of Michigan State University<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
