The most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/03\/03\/adam-silver-set-to-decide-knicks-raptors-dispute\/\" target=\"_self\">Knicks news<\/a> coming out of New York is that they are deciding to sign <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beaucma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MarJon Beauchamp<\/a> to a two-way contract. The Knicks are hoping that Beauchamp is simply a luxury they can develop on the bench, but history says Beauchamp could get more playing time than expected. Let\u2019s take a look at the MarJon Beauchamp scouting report and Knicks history to see what kind of piece he could be for them moving forward.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>New York Knicks Sign Former First-Round Pick With Potential<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>The Knicks\u2019 MarJon Beauchamp Signing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shams Charania dropped some Knicks\u2019 news and reported the Beauchamp signing Monday night. Although Beauchamp was the 24th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, he has yet to find super solid footing in the league. The Knicks are hoping they\u2019ve grabbed a young player that has untapped upside.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Knicks are releasing <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/ryanma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Ryan<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/toppija01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacob Toppin<\/a> from the roster, which made room for Beauchamp\u2019s contract. Beauchamp was playing for the Clippers before being waived, but spent most of his early NBA career on the Milwaukee Bucks. Beauchamp\u2019s career high was with the Bucks when he averaged 5.1 points per game in 13.5 minutes per game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Free agent MarJon Beauchamp has agreed on a two-way NBA contract with the New York Knicks, his agents at Wasserman told ESPN. Beauchamp brings size and athleticism to the table, much like the Knicks\u2019 wings, and his defensive potential likely has <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/coaches\/thiboto99c.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom Thibodeau<\/a> drooling. Although we all know that Thibs likely will do everything in his power to keep Beauchamp off the court.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Knicks Need Injury Insurance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although their <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/02\/27\/knicks-injury-report-update-mitchell-robinson-return\/\" target=\"_self\">coach desperately refuses to play deep-bench players any minutes<\/a>, Beauchamp may eventually need to see the floor. The Knicks are having a great season so far, but much of it has been with pretty solid injury luck. This is a lot like last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, the Knicks crushed it during the regular season, only to flame out in the playoffs when the excessive miles put on them by their coach finally caught up. Thibs hasn&#8217;t seem to learn from last year\u2019s playoff flameout, and he is once again running his starters into the ground with some of the <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/stats\/leaders?StatCategory=MIN\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">highest minute totals in the league<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If Knicks start falling towards the end of the season again, this Beachamp signing could be more significant than it seems.
