The Minnesota Timberwolves still have 20 games remaining in their regular season. Despite this, Anthony Edwards<\/a> has already set a new single-season Timberwolves record with more than a month still remaining. Ant-Man now has the most three-point makes in a season in franchise history. He certainly has ample time to continue stretching his lead as the record holder, and he should have future seasons where he will have the opportunity to challenge his record.<\/p>\n

Anthony Edwards Now Owns Timberwolves Record For Made Three-Pointers In A Season<\/h3>\n

On Sunday, the Timberwolves easily took care of business against the floundering Phoenix Suns<\/a> with a 116-98 victory. The win improved Minnesota\u2019s record to 33-29 on the year. The outing saw the return of Julius Randle<\/a>, who had missed the previous 13 contests<\/a> with a strained groin. It was another standout performance from the 23-year-old Edwards as he scored 44 points and dished out seven assists. He also connected on six of his 14 three-point tries.<\/p>\n

That performance now gives Edwards 244 made three-pointers this season. His third three-pointer allowed him to break the Timberwolves record<\/a> for most threes made in a season. He surpassed the previous record holder, Malik Beasley<\/a>, who made 240 in the 2021-22 season. For a brief while, Beasley was the single-season leader for two franchises as he passed<\/a> Saddiq Bey<\/a>\u2019s mark with the Detroit Pistons this season.<\/p>\n

Remarkably, Edwards already has four of the top five spots in the Timberwolves single-season three- pointers made record book. He also occupies spots three through five with 215 in 2021-22, 213 in 2022-23, and 190 in 2023-24. The first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft<\/a> is only in his fifth season.<\/p>\n

Despite being just 23 years old, Edwards already has the record for most threes made in Timberwolves history<\/a>. After Sunday, he now has 1,033 in his career over 360 regular season games. The previous record holder was Karl-Anthony Towns<\/a>, who was traded to the New York Knicks in the offseason. He made 975 three-pointers while donning the Minnesota jersey.<\/p>\n

On Pace For Well Over 300<\/h3>\n

It is somewhat ironic that Edwards passed Beasley for the Timberwolves franchise mark. That is because the two of them are currently tied atop this season\u2019s leaderboard for the most threes made<\/a> in the league this season with 244. Stephen Curry is the closest to them with 227 made three-pointers. As mentioned, Minnesota has 20 games remaining while Beasley\u2019s Pistons have 21 left.<\/p>\n

There has been only one game this season that the 6-foot-4 Edwards has missed. If he plays in each of the final 20 outings, the shooting guard is on pace to connect on 335 three-pointers this season. That would be the sixth-most in a single season only behind four Curry seasons and one from James Harden<\/a>. Of course, Beasley is also looking to finish as one of the most prolific three-point shooters in a season as well.<\/p>\n

Edwards will look to extend both of his three-point franchise records on Tuesday when Minnesota goes on the road to take on the Philadelphia 76ers. The Timberwolves are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference, mere percentage points behind both the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.<\/p>\n
