Last night was the NBA’s first experiment with the new All-Star<\/a> game format. While some people enjoyed the new format, others didn’t. Regardless, if the players or fans liked the new format, it brought out more competition from the players that hasn’t been seen for a while. It will be interesting to see if the NBA makes any tweaks or changes to this new format for next year.<\/p>\n

The Thunder had Jalen Williams<\/a> make his All-Star game<\/a> debut last night. His teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a> played in his third All-Star game. Even though Williams didn’t light up the box score in his first All-Star appearance, he should be able to walk away with some benefits that will help his development.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Williams’s first All-Star appearance ended short, as his team was eliminated in the first round. In his debut, he scored just two points, shooting 1-3 from the field, and had one assist, one steal, and one block. Shai’s team “Chuck’s Global Stars” eliminated Williams and “Kenny’s Young Stars” as Shai had a game high 12 points and was perfect from the floor. Let’s explore how this experience could benefit Williams.<\/p>\n

This Might Be His Only Appearance In The All-Star Game<\/h3>\n

Being named an All-Star player is a huge privilege that you can’t take for granted. Unlike his teammate Shai, who will most likely be an All-Star for the next decade as he is the best player<\/a> on the Thunder, Williams might not know the next time he will be an All-Star again. Next year, he will be competing against his other teammates in Chet Holmgren<\/a> and other players to be an All-Star again. In addition, it is not common for teams to get three All-Stars; typically, the maximum number a team gets is two. This is why it seemed like Williams was just trying to take in the whole experience, as he doesn’t know when or if he will be back.<\/p>\n
