Having been a role player off the bench for most of his career, it\u2019s his time to shine. Unfortunately, Powell is having a phenomenal season but was not selected for this year\u2019s All-Star game. However, he will still be able to showcase his sharpshooting abilities at the Starry 3-Point contest.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Norman Powell Selected to Participate In 3-Point Contest<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his 10th year, Powell is averaging 23.9 points per game while shooting 43.1% from beyond the arc. This is by far the best season of his career, and he is a candidate for the Most Improved Player Award. He&#8217;s started all 42 games and has <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/11\/30\/norman-powell-stepping-up-for-clippers\/\" target=\"_self\">stepped up for the Clippers<\/a>, leading them to a 28-23 record.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Powell scored at least 20 points in 17 of his last 20 games. With 10 straight outings with over 20 points, it\u2019s clear that the confidence in his shooting abilities is there. Not only is he performing well throughout the season, but he\u2019s also become a reliable go-to shooter in clutch time. In the <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.statmuse.com\/nba\/ask\/nba-leaders-in-fourth-quarter-scoring\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fourth quarter<\/a>, Powell averages 7.4 points a game, which is top five in the league.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Powell not making his first All-Star appearance caused loud reactions from some of the most popular sports television shows. The 31-year-old<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0received praise for his performances this season from <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/01\/17\/tnt-crew-debate-norman-powell-as-potential-all-star\/\" target=\"_self\">NBA on TNT<\/a> and Stephen A. Smith on ESPN\u2019s First Take. During the 2010s, it seemed normal for Los Angeles to send one or two All-Stars or a player participating in Saturday\u2019s events. <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/griffbl01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blake Griffin<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/paulch01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Paul<\/a> were the <a  href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/nba\/teams\/Los-Angeles-Clippers\/12\/Awards\/All_Stars\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">All-Stars<\/a> playing on Sunday from 2011-2016, as well as <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jordade01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DeAndre Jordan<\/a> in 2017. <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/leonaka01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kawhi Leonard<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/georgpa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul George<\/a> have been recent representatives, being selected three times each for the All-Star Game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Powell is the <a  href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/nba\/teams\/Los-Angeles-Clippers\/12\/Awards\/Three_Point_Participants\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sixth player<\/a> to represent the Clippers in the 3-point contest, the first since <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kennalu01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luke Kennard<\/a> in 2022. Only <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/harrito02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tobias Harris<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/redicjj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JJ Redick<\/a> have represented LA in the contest since 2015. <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beverpa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Beverley<\/a> (2020) and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/willilo02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lou Williams<\/a> (2018) were the only Clipper players to participate in the <a  href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/nba\/teams\/Los-Angeles-Clippers\/12\/Awards\/Skill_Challenge_Participants\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">skills competition<\/a>, while Jordan was the last to play in the prestigious <a  href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/nba\/teams\/Los-Angeles-Clippers\/12\/Awards\/Dunk_Comp_Participants\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dunk contest<\/a> in 2017. Lastly, only <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gilgesh01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a> (2019) has represented the Clippers in the <a  href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/nba\/teams\/Los-Angeles-Clippers\/12\/Awards\/Rising_Stars_Challenge\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rising Stars game<\/a> in the last 13 years. Lately, there have been few Clippers to showcase their talents at All-Star weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A week is left until the basketball world shifts its focus to San Francisco, and Powell is ready to roll.
