After trading their franchise player, they made another trade that sent their best defensive player out. Mavs fans have expressed their opinion on the trade by canceling season tickets. The organization seems to be in a complete downfall, and their latest move is to try and refund fans.

Mavs Fans Cancel Season Tickets, Dallas Offers Refunds

According to Abby Jones of DLLS Sports, the organization has offered refunds to season ticket holders who chose to cancel their plans for the remaining home games this season. The value is around $2,000, a price that will be a huge blow to the organization’s revenue. She has since deleted the tweet, but the screenshots remain.

The Mavericks have the 11th biggest arena in the NBA per capacity. The American Airlines Center has a capacity of 19,200 fans.

Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, got a reply from the organization. The statement he got from the Mavericks reads, “We value every season ticket member relationship and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns of questions.”

Mavs Season Ticket Prices

When the Adelson and Dumont family bought the franchise from Mark Cuban, one of their first moves was to increase the price of tickets. Last year in February, Twitter and Reddit were full of comments from fans talking about the increase in price.

Heading into the 2023-24 season, the Mavs had one of the more expensive tickets in the league, at a $249 average price. The tickets for the 2024-25 increased in price. One can argue that after making the NBA Finals, the Mavericks were an ascending team in the league, with a young superstar on the roster. But now, without Luka Doncic, Mavs fans are expressing their opinion by canceling season tickets.

The Mavericks are also among the highest-valued teams in the league. The Adelson Dumont family bought the team for $3.5 million, but it is now valued at $4.7 billion. They are the ninth highest-valued team in the league (as of October 2024).

Is Nico Harrison Deliberately Destroying the Team?

In the last week, Nico Harrison has made two trades that look like he is destroying the team. First, he made an unprecedented move and traded away a 25-year-old perennial first team All-NBA and All-Star player in Luka Doncic. He explained the move by saying defense wins championships, and Anthony Davis is a perennial All-Defensive team member.

Then, in what can only be seen as another controversial move, Harrison traded away Quentin Grimes, a young, cheap defensive wing, for the more expensive Caleb Martin. Grimes has been the Mavs’ best defensive player this season. If Harrison believes that defense wins championships, he shouldn’t have moved the team’s best defensive wing, right?

Now that Mavs fans are thinking of canceling their season tickets, you can hear the hate in their comments on social media. Here are some:

Imagine making a trade so bad, you have to refund fans.

I hope no one ever shows up to another game

Wow. This is how you know that they know they messed up bad.

Pretty wild for a brand to refund tickets midseason.

The only way to send a message is by depriving the team of funds.

I am getting angrier by the moment at this version of the Dallas Mavericks organization.

I’m not even a Mavs fan and I hope every single season ticket holder cancels their ticket and forces NBA commissioner to start an investigation to why Luka was not available to 28 other teams. Mavs fans deserve answers.

Does Nico like European players? Or just AAU players?

I was gonna buy season tickets for next year but not with these decision making skills by the GM.

Wow this isn’t going away. Interested to see if Nico addresses the media again.

Photo credit: © Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

The Dallas Mavericks are turning into a complete circus franchise.
