In fact, he&#8217;s one of the best big men that the league has ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>With footwork that would make Fred Flintstone flush or a ballerina blush, he&#8217;s a terror in the phone booth. Ironically, he might not be able to jump over a stack of phone books. It just doesn&#8217;t seem to hold him back much, if at all. Not only is Sengun&#8217;s touch excellent in the post, he can nail long jumpers.<\/p>\n<p>His European flavor might not be everyone&#8217;s taste. People are entitled to their own opinions. However, he&#8217;s a riveting player, relying not on feats of absurd athleticism but technical expertise. This extends beyond his scoring ability, as he&#8217;s more than capable of making flashy but effective passes.<\/p>\n<h2>Rockets Cornerstone Alperen Sengun&#8217;s All-Star Era Blasts Off<\/h2>\n<p>Sengun&#8217;s dynamic skillset and his desire to be great has allowed him to be a cornerstone for the up-and-coming Rockets, who are second in the Western Conference standings. On post-ups, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/stats\/players\/playtype-post-up?PerMode=Totals&amp;dir=D&amp;sort=POSS\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he&#8217;s scoring 1.07 points per possession<\/a>, on 55.1 percent shooting from the field. He no longer wants <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/01\/22\/houston-rockets-star-alperen-senguun-brutally-honest-comparisons-nikola-jokic\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">to be compared<\/a> to Denver Nuggets center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jokicni01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikola Jokic<\/a>, a three-time NBA MVP. However, for reference, Jokic is scoring 1.08 points per possession on post-ups, shooting 56.3 percent from the field.<\/p>\n<p>At the defensive end, he&#8217;s recorded 2.1 stocks (steals + blocks) per game. He&#8217;s holding opponents to 47.1 percent shooting from the field, tied with Philadelphia 76ers star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/e\/embiijo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joel Embiid<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/stats\/players\/defense-dash-overall?PlayerPosition=C&amp;dir=D&amp;sort=D_FG_PCT\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the best mark among centers<\/a>. It just feels amazing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Hall Of Fame Trajectory?<\/h3>\n<p>In earning All-Star honors, Sengun joins a legendary list of former Rockets centers: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hayesel01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elvin Hayes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/malonmo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Moses Malone<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/o\/olajuha01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hakeem Olajuwon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/howardw01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dwight Howard<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mingya01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yao Ming<\/a>. Hayes, Malone, Olajuwon, and Ming have all been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
