Jackson<\/a> has struggled since returning from injury. With Jimmy Butler<\/a> uninterested<\/a> in joining and Cameron Johnson\u2019s<\/a> price<\/a> potentially too high, the Grizzlies must find internal solutions.<\/p>\n

Vince Williams Shows Promise Despite Injuries<\/h3>\n

Williams missed the start of the season with a left tibial stress reaction. He finally made his debut on November 15 against the Golden State Warriors. However, after just three games, he suffered<\/a> a Grade 3 ankle sprain. His initial return timeline was three to six weeks, but he remains out.<\/p>\n

Despite his limited playing time, Williams made an impact. He posted a 13.1<\/a> net rating in three games, the highest on the team. He also excelled in clutch moments, with a staggering 68.2<\/a> net rating in two fourth-quarter appearances. While the sample size is small, his effectiveness is clear.<\/p>\n

If Williams returns soon, he could provide a much-needed boost to the Grizzlies’ forward rotation. Memphis has been exploring trade options to upgrade at that position. However, if Williams can replicate his early-season production, he could be like a new trade acquisition for the team.<\/p>\n

G.G. Jackson Struggles Defensively and Offensively<\/h3>\n

Jackson has not found the same success as Williams. Since returning from a 42-game absence, he has posted a team-worst -7.6 net rating. His defensive struggles stand out the most. Last season, he had a respectable 111.4<\/a> defensive rating. This year, it has plummeted to 126.0<\/a>, the worst on the team.<\/p>\n

Film shows Jackson moving slower on defense, possibly due to lingering effects from foot surgery. Offensively, he has also struggled. His shooting splits stand at 35.9% from the field, 25.0% from three, and 77.8% from the free-throw line. He must improve his shooting if he wants a bigger role.<\/p>\n

The Grizzlies’ forward position is open, but Jackson has not capitalized. If he improves, he could push for a starting role. At the very least, he must increase his 16.6 minutes per game to secure a stable role in the rotation come playoffs time.<\/p>\n

Cam Spencer Carving Out a Role<\/h3>\n

Spencer, a little-known second-round pick, has emerged as a surprise contributor. He was just seven picks away from being the last name called in the 2024 NBA Draft. Despite that, he has earned<\/a> 12 minutes per game over the last 10 contests.<\/p>\n

His three-point shooting has not been elite (31.3%), but he has contributed in multiple ways. His net rating of 8.7<\/a> is solid, ranking ninth on the team. Spencer\u2019s versatility and effort have helped him carve out a role in the rotation.<\/p>\n

The Grizzlies Must Find Internal Solutions: Williams, Spencer And Jackson<\/h3>\n

With Butler uninterested and Johnson\u2019s price tag high, Memphis may have to rely on internal options. Williams’ return<\/a> could provide a major boost. Spencer has shown he can contribute. Jackson, however, must improve his defense and shooting to secure a bigger role.<\/p>\n
