And according to basketball legend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/o\/onealsh01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-22_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shaquille O&#8217;Neal<\/a>, there is one specific player who should make their first All-Star appearance this season&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cunnica01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-22_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cade Cunningham<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cunningham made an appearance on Tuesday&#8217;s NBA Pre-Game Show on TNT. During his appearance, O&#8217;Neal told the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/01\/21\/pistons-draft-decision-cunningham-green-proves-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Detroit Pistons<\/a> star that he should be an All-Star this year. If I had a vote, I would definitely vote you in.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Shaquille O&#8217;Neal Endorses Detroit Pistons Star for First All-Star Selection<\/h2>\n<h3>Cade Cunningham&#8217;s Career Year<\/h3>\n<p>Now in his fourth year in the league, the former No.1 overall pick is having a fantastic season. Through 39 games, Cunningham is averaging 24.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 9.3 assists. Additionally, he is shooting 45.3% from the field and 37.3% from the three-point line. All these numbers are career highs for Cunningham. Not only is Cunningham having a successful individual season, but he is also leading the Pistons to their most successful campaign in a few years.<\/p>\n<p>Over halfway through the season, the Pistons are 22-21 and own the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. After finishing with the worst record in the league in each of the last two seasons, this is a big deal for the Pistons. Furthermore, they are on pace for their first playoff appearance since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot of basketball remaining. However, the Pistons look like a legitimate playoff contender and much of that can be attributed to Cunningham&#8217;s growth.<\/p>\n<h3>Cade Cunningham&#8217;s Teammates Believe He Should Be An All-Star<\/h3>\n<p>O&#8217;neal is not the only one who thinks Cunningham <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2025\/01\/17\/pistons-all-stars-2025-all-star-weekend\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">should make the All-Star team<\/a>. Recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/harrito02.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-22_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tobias Harris<\/a> called it &#8220;an honor&#8221; to play alongside Cunningham. Additionally, he said Cunningham is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/sports\/nba\/pistons\/2025\/01\/17\/detroit-pistons-back-spectacular-cade-cunninghams-all-star-push\/77761170007\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;starting to get the recognition&#8221;<\/a> he deserves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to play with him as a young, up-and-coming superstar in this league and I think he\u2019s starting to get the recognition and the clout that he deserves,\u201d Harris said. \u201cExtremely hard worker, extremely humble human being and an amazing teammate and leader for this whole group. \u2026 He\u2019s playing at an extremely high level leading this group, leading this team and coming to play night after night. And not for nothing. He\u2019s a dynamic offensive player but he\u2019s also a very good defensive player, and he brings it defensively for our group as well. He\u2019s been spectacular for us all season long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beaslma01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-22_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malik Beasley<\/a> endorsed Cunningham for the All-Star Game as well, even if <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheHoopCentral\/status\/1881455221618135498\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in an NSFW fashion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cunningham will find out in a week if he names the team.
