After the loss, Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez did not make any excuses.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you see a loss like this, a lot of things went wrong,\u201d Fernandez said<\/a>. \u201cThe energy and competitive spirit was not there, plain and simple. But right now, the only thing I can do is support my guys. It’s never a good experience to go through this, but analyzing the whole season, none of our guys work for this, and they’ve competed the whole time. So all I can do is support them, obviously own this myself as well, and show up the next day and try to be better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nets Center, Nic Claxton<\/a> took the loss personally.<\/p>\n

“You just feel like you\u2019re not doing your job, honestly,\u201d Claxton said<\/a>. We\u2019ve all got a lot of pride, so we\u2019ve just got to be better. And we can\u2019t lose like this, though. Definitely can\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cDamn, I don\u2019t know if I ever lost by this much. It\u2019s frustrating. It\u2019s definitely frustrating. And I feel like we\u2019ve been getting beat by a lot lately, if I\u2019m being honest,\u201d Claxton said. \u201cBut we\u2019re getting some guys back, and we\u2019ve just got to keep fighting. Rumors and Rebuild<\/h3>\n

The recent trades of Dennis Schroder to the Golden State Warriors<\/a> and Dorian Finney-Smith to the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> have placed the Nets in rebuild mode. As the February 6th trade deadline approaches, rumors are building that Nets\u2019 forward Cam Johnson is the main target for teams<\/a> in both conferences. Johnson is averaging 19.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists this season.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve always fought through the end, cut leads, competed, and I am proud of this group of guys, and I know they\u2019ll show up and work the next day,” he said. “So, it\u2019s all we can do right now is have a positive but also a competitive mindset where this has to hurt and you don\u2019t want to be in this situation again.\u201d<\/p>\n
